Here is a recap of our trip. Monday night around midnight, we started doing some 1/4 mile simulation pulls on the dyno to get used to the shifting a bit. During one of the passes the exedy twin disc retainer clip popped off the TOB. Yes, we had a STM clutch fork stop on the car adjusted about 1/8" from the fork. We called it a night and came in at 7am the next morning and dropped the tranny, popped in another retainer clip and reinstalled the tranny. We then tuned 2 evo's and did a full head gasket job on another evo before we had a chance to try some light launching with the car. The retainer popped out again! This was 10pm on Tuesday night. We pushed it into a bay and had the clutch back out by 11:30pm. We decided to ditch the pull-style clutch and toss in the push-style Tilton Twin Carbon clutch with the hydraulic TOB from our other drag evo so we could get some clean passes at the shootout.

We were trying to leave the shop on Wednesday at midnight but we were still on the dyno logging some 1/4 mile passes before we loaded the car into the trailer at 2:30am, for our 14 hour drive to Ohio. Finally, the car was doing very well.

One major thing about this build is that Tyler wanted to drive his own car. This is something we can appreciate and support. Joey "Junk Box" from Boostin Performance is someone we appreciate for driving his own car into the 8's. Now, Tyler hasn't raced in 3 years and has never raced a car this fast, used slicks, done a burnout on slicks, no-lift shifted or used a staging brake. We went into this event knowing that he was going to be learning his car as he went along. On top of that, he was feeling the pressure from everyone hoping he could run 9's. He was very very nervous, as to be expected. All we could do is offer advice, keep him focused and calm and just let him learn his car. He did great IMO!

Tyler tried using the staging brake the first few passes and it was just too much to focus on at once and was killing his launches. We told him to ditch the staging brake for now and just launch without it. On his 4th pass ever on the car, he cut a 1.485 60' and set the new world record at 10.08@132mph! After this pass the turbo was done. It had a lot of pulls on the dyno and the realworld abuse, it had enough and had a LOT of shaft play. It was touching down and gouging the compressor housing badly. We tried sourcing another turbo but it was too late into the event to make a swap. Even on a blow turbo, Tyler tried the staging brake again and cut a 1.41 60' but missed the 3-4 shift. We knew a 9 was in it alright. After that, the turbo was so shot that it had no power off the 2-step and just bogged off the launch every time. Setting the new record was enough to consider the event a success!

Many thanks to Emery and the entire crew at STM for offering lots of advice from their experience with their drag evo's and lending us a tactrix cable, although we couldn't log the car at all the entire event due to a connectivity issue somewhere. You guys are awesome and we're proud to have your support. Also, Grant from Precision Turbo & Engine was a huge help and kept an eye on our turbo as we tried to make a few passes before it called it quits for good.

Lastly, thanks to everyone who has been following the build thread and coming up and showing your support. It really meant a lot since we made a VERY unorthodox build. another stock IX turbo will be going on and a 9 second pass is happening.

MANY THANKS TO MAPERFORMANCE FOR A FULL SPONSORSHIP ON THEIR EF4 TURBO! This will be going on shortly, along with a full cage and we will see how deep into the 9's or 8's the car may be capable of!

Those are banners, not stickers lol. We repped the HECK out of your work for you guys this weekend though! Dave Buschur said your welds are INSANE! Your work impressed every single person we talked to at the event, even the big dogs. The ToxicFab logo on FMIC is the only thing you see on the front view of the car and looks mean in the pics of it staging at the tree Make sure to send us some more suitable stickers though!

Everyone...there isn't a better fabrication shop out there right now than ToxicFab!!! These guys are raising the bar and they are raising it very high!

Just WAIT until you see the plugs we got you guys of your work in Slanted Jays video footage of the entire event!!!!!

Go with the new QM 8 leg and never have to worry about that.

awesome. I've been following this build over on MWE... sucks about the turbo but setting a world record is still exciting. I can't wait to see numbers from the EF4
