DWe now limited the spike to 38psi, per FP's suggestion from their analysis on the stock turbo, it's a BRIEF spike anyhow, only during low RPM spoolup which this car will never do at the track. At the track it never exceeds 33psi during its useable powerband. And yes, it continued to make power as we raised the boost. However, this manifold/exhaust dump setup is very unique and minimizes back pressure a fair amount, I imagine.

Since the shootout the car has been going under some construction to get us that 9 second pass. I'm really hoping all goes well and that this 9 second pass with a stock turbo does not become a sore thorn in my side. But since we got back the two biggest changes have been tracking down another stock evo 9 turbo and getting the car to be legal so we can go racing again. We are hoping to be at the track next wednesday and will be heading to MIR in November.
First and foremost we found a stock evo 9 turbo so we could continue on our quest for 9s with the stock turbo. We will be back on the dyno as well to refresh the tune and see if we can squeeze any more power out of the car.
And now we are having a full 8.50 cage installed in the car along with the beginning of the funny car cage minus the floor pieces to help cut down on weight untill we need them for those E.T.s I can't wait to see it complete. We have had amazing help from our good friend Tony Garcia who had been bending all the piping and making the fitment of all the pipes beyond perfection. Cody, our in house welder here at Dynotech, has been doing all the tig welding and has been doing a great job. I dont know how he has been bending himself to get to some of these welds. The cage is coming out amazing and will be done Wednesday with the Kirkey seat built in as well as a parachute all mounted up on the car. I cant say enough about how awesome this cage is coming out so ill let the pictures speak for themselves. Thanks for all the hard work Tony and Cody!!! I have no doubts I'll be safe in the car, however getting in and out may be a little challenging. Time to diet lol

I will be getting a full Fire suit, gloves, helmet, scatter shield, driveshaft loop, safety net, etc. so the car meets all of NHRA safety standards as well as my personal health inspections and such. Once the car goes 9s I will be getting my 9 second license as well so both the car and I are fully certified to race anywhere.
Enjoy the Pictures!

the car is coming along nicely, just hate to see it be a full out race car now with no real street manners

I knew we had already heard of overkill before lol. Well, the intent of this build was never to be a street car of any sort. It was meant to be a drag car and it's on it's way to be one the nicer 'all out' drag cars too. We'll have a few very nice street evo builds coming up next year though!

Well, we finally had a chance to replace the bad turbo with another stock evo 9 turbo. The compressor blades were touching down on the housing PRETTY bad by the end of the event. Here are a few pics of the damage. Shaft play doesn't appear to be bad when the turbo is cold but its HORRIBLE once the turbo is at operating temp. The turbo never saw more than short 33psi spikes going down the track the entire event.

Damn! You aren't bsing around. I still want to see 8s on stock frame. There to be a class called "stock frame max" at the shootout for all cars with stock frame turbos that are completely raced out. I think it would be pretty competitive with some well built cars. You would also see some better driving with cars not having to shift so damn high for having these big @ss T3 turbos (67mm and up). Way more consistent.
