Evo build finally coming together.
*Lots of Pics up now. (Some full sized pics on the last page of where it sits now)
*Hoping to finally get this thing fired up by Monday Feb. 3rd
Motor, trans, T-case, suspension, and turbo are all in the car now
So I have been building my evo 8 for the past two years or so, it has been quite taxing at times. A lot of time spent researching, tracking down parts, searching web pages and f/s threads. Well finally it's all coming together.
2003 BBY EVO VIII I bought in 2005, car currently has 35,XXX miles. Bought the car pretty much stock minus an ACT HD clutch, which I hated because of the pedal pressure. Initial build was full bolt-ons, HKS 272's, and exedy twin. Car was fun and made great power for the mods. Started having issues with lower IC pipe blowing off, occasional boost creep, then some issues with the engine running hot. After tear down recently, found out one of the bearings some how got crushed which caused a portion of it to flatten out and a small crack near the piston ring.
My goal for the build was to have an all around powerhouse, something that could hold its own on the street, strip, and track. I am very excited to see what this thing can do and what kind of numbers it puts down. I really wanted something that put down good power with a great powerband and good tq numbers.
Here is the setup.
BR 2.3 stage 3 stroker, BR BF 272's, AEM Tru time cam gears, ARP studs, BR double pumper, ID 2000's, custom built COP from SpoolinUP, BR fuel rail.
built head +1mm valves, guides and seals, port work, supertech dual springs, ti retainers, Kiggly HLA, and other goodies
FP HTA 3582R v-band with custom tubular manifold, dump pipe, Tial 44mm wastegate higher rate springs, and garrett GT .82 T3 undivided turbine housing with 3" v-band outlet
ETS 4" FMIC, ETS short route IC pipes, Tial QR BOV, ETS 4" SD intake, IAT, 4 bar MAP sensor, ETS mini battery tray, PC 680 battery, AEM EMS, NGK wideband setup
Buddy Club QF-1 +28, Nitto 05's, steel braided brake lines, DBA 4000 T3 rotors, Hawk HPS pads, shims, coilovers
Cusco 5 point subframe brace, Cusco 24 mm rear sway bar, BR lightweight front crossmember, motor mounts, rear diff bushings, under hood shifter bushings, shifter base bushings, and steel braided clutch line. Removed: front and rear crash beams, rear seat, carpets, plastics, trunk liners, radio, A/C system, console, spare and tools.
STM oil cooler kit, MAP V2 intake manifold w/black thermal coating, 65mm milspec TB, EGR delete, AMS 3" TBE w/test pipe, custom O2 housing, aluminum radiator, slim fans, STM coolant overflow, STM Master to Slave clutch line, EVO IX HIDs, Custom tails, Chopped 8 front.
Shep street/strip trans w/ultimate gear ratio, HKS 4.11 final drive, billet output tube, Shep transfer case stage 2 w/upgraded ring and pinion, quaife LSD, re-stacked rear diff plates, Exedy triple, toxicfab clutch fork stop
I think that's most of it, hopefully I will have some new info to post up in the next few weeks. I would like to thank everyone here on the forum that has helped me out with questions, info, and knowledge. In particular thanks to ETS, FP, Buschur, MAP, STM, and forum member BGevoIX for all you guys help with quality parts, answers to my questions, and great customer service. Also thanks to Adam for putting most of this car together and dealing with my 10,000 questions.

Thanks for the positive words, car starts going back together tomorrow. Also just an FYI car will be corn fed.. looking at somewhere in the range of 32-34 lbs max boost on E85. I will try and get to the garage and get some pictues as it all goes together its literally just a shell right now really minus two front seats and the dash. I even ended having to swap in a new gas tank as the old one built some rust while sitting. Should have prepped it better but didnt expect it to be down so long, but should have taken Murphys' law in to consideration...
