Sorry I just now seen this. I am kind of neglecting my car for everyone else's right now. Customers are more important to me right now.

The crank scraper basically scrapes oil off the crank as it spins, removing resistance and keeping better control of oil in the windage.

I did a quick google search to get a better answer for you. http://www.crank-scrapers.com/What%2...k-scraper.html

Hope that helps.

So the fuel pump started to whine again, and i went to replace the filter, but found something far more worse.

I have no idea what the hell caused this, but this tank is officially KO'ed now.

Maybe when i cleaned the tank a month ago out and using a scotch bright scrub pad i destroyed some kind of outter protective layer on the tank?

Here are some iphone pics. I have more pics on my camera also, but for now these will do.

I am going to buy a new fuel tank im not playing with this one anymore. I am in the process of dropping the tank now.

dont know how this happened. car doesn't even have 60K on it yet.

I am putting the charcoal canister back in with the new tank that is for sure. I have a suspicious feeling that helped trigger this.

What in the world... Are the fuel pumps corroded or is it rust or what the hell happened there.... Speechless

Maybe bottle up a little bit and find a local lab that can perform some tests on it to figure out exactly what is going on.

I have been running without the charcoal canister for a few thousand miles now and everything is fine, I suspect something much worse is going on here.. I'd go mention to the gas station manager / who ever is the tank custodian and have them pull some samples on that tank and see if anything is going on.

i never seen a gas tank erode that badly even the fuel pump got damage , i really dont think you rip off any protective layer on the gas tank for that to happen

Who knows what the hell is in the gas. The pump was half broken last time i filled up. it took 10min to fill the car up becuase the gas station pump was whining and going super super slow. Then it overflowed my tank without clicking. This was just this Friday. (3 days ago).

I think the gas station has something to do with this but im not positive.

remind me to never trust brown/yellow looking e85 again haha.

But i wonder if the scotch bright did help it rust. It seems odd. im not sure.

The gas tank is a huge PITA to remove. I have to drop the rear, i tried to get it out without dropping the rear, but it is impossible. I should of listened to my friend Adam. He told me you have to drop th rear.

In turn for not listening i got a face full of dirt trying to manhandle it down.

should have it out this week, and going to order a new one asap.

Not getting my e85 from that station again until they take samples and test it. even then i might not. I will drive the extra distance to get it at another trusted station.

Either you proved that the gas stations water down the gas with salt water (plz test your gas.) if u could sue them that would be awesome. or every component in your tank was made in china the gas sold is like our cops,, 0 accountability

If this was from the gas itself, you shouldn't be the only one affected right?

Wow that really sucks, tank look like that bottom of a well. I guess the injectors will have to be cleaned/flow tested again after this? I strongly suggest doing an independent testing yourself for documentation. Request on from them as well. GL

They claim its not the gas. They test it every week. They also claim its normal for sometimes E85 to be a yellowish tint. I told her im not going back to that station again and explained how the pump worked like crap last time i was there. taking 10minutes to pump 5 gal and then not clicking when full making me overflow the car with fuel.

I am not the only one that complained theres someone else, because the lady got me confused with another person apparently.

EIther way i just got done dropping the tank. aside from getting the axles out, (super tight fit PITA), the job is easy.

I did not have to fully drop the rear, but theres a wishbone piece above the rear that had to be lowered / pushed back out of the way.

Here is some pics for you guys. Enjoy.

And yes i cleane dthe tank alittle bit with vac cleaner and wd40. That only took 5minutes though.

The injectors will be fine, so will the lines. The fuel filters stop it from getting up there. and if that doesn't, then the 6 micron inline filter does.

I will still pull the injectors to visually inspect them though for sure.

Thanks I appreciate it.

Tom, I would not buy E85 in Mount Joy [ Pacific Pride ] I have heard of other problems when I was still working in Mt. Joy a few years ago. Amerigreen has several stations that carry E85 [ Lititz, Greenfield Industrial Park, Manheim Etc. I buy mine from Mollies in Manheim or their self serve station in the Greenfield Industrial Park.

I believe you received a bad batch a few months ago which started the damage you now have. By scotch brighting the tank you also removed the zinc coating which added to the demise of your tank.

I would recommend using Stabil 360. It protects all surfaces that are not emerged in fuel. It also works the same as the standard Stabil as a preservative.

Good Luck, Don
