I took the car out yesturday for hte first time. I wasnt ready for what was about to happen. I did not respect what i had under my control and it almost took my life in the process because of it.

The car is surprisingly not bad for hitting a bank at the top of 3rd with 4.11 FD. I came 1ft away from cracking a huge tree that would have ended everything no question in my mind, but the cause of it is what sucks the most.

I normally would have had my laptop in the car logging the pull and never would have taken my eyes off the road, but the hard drive died in it recently and the only other laptop i had no battery power left.

I took it upon myself to take the car out thinking i would be ok to just watch the AFR gauge. I think the biggest mistake i made was watching the AFR gauge as the car spooled. I never thought it would hit so hard so soon taking off at 3500 it hit very hard by 4k. the second it hit the tires were roasting. Whats weird is, it was so smooth i couldnt feel or tell it was spinning until it was to late.

I looked up and i was sideways headed for a tree i panic'ed and over corrected i think and put the car into a left and right wobble where i then later lost control and it shot up a 8-10ft bank and the car was airborn for about 50ft or more. As it was in the air all i thought was "im going to die this sucks, theres nothing i can do about whats about to happen and i didnt want to go out this way".

As the car came down it came down on 2 wheels sideways i just barely got to turn it away from the tree i was going straight for at the time in the air which gave me the feeling i was done. I managed to turn it away from the tree last minute and that was it.

Now the damage isnt all that bad granted how severe the incident was. I got extremely lucky.

The front bumper end tanks are bent where the couplers go a bit
The one portion of the upper ic pipe is bent closed alittle
The front bumper is destroyed
The radiator support / bottom portion (mitsubishi calls this the headlamp support) that is bent pretty bad which is going to need to be fixed at a frame place.
Both couplers on the FMIC are torn almost clean in half
2 flat tires, 3 curbed wheels. might be cracked on some.
side skirt busted and ripped off the side.

Surprisingly no fender damage, or headlight damage, or for that matter no body damage aside from the front bumper.

Please guys when driving your cars never take your eyes off the road. You never know what can happen if you're not focused on whats going on.

This almost makes me want to remove gauges from my car because they are worthless at this power level.

I'll share some pics later. I estimate its about $2000 in damage.

Other then that, the car really shocked me. It feels as responsive as my old 2.3 and fp black setup and it is worlds smoother in boost. it is going to be a major handful that is all i know. I am half afraid of the car now. I may just retire it and use it for the track only and get another car for the street with a smaller setup.

Thanks. yes the cars not going to take much to get back on the road thankfully. I got lucky.

The coolant level did not move also. this was only one pull though.

I think what really screwed me up was I forgot to turn the hallman mbc down and it was set for 36-38psi on the fp black, so i have no idea what that is with this new setup. The tial 44mm WG has a 21psi spring set in it.

I'm happy to hear that your ok Tom. It sucks that your car got messed up, but all things considered, it sounds like you got really lucky.

Adam just sent me a text about this! Glad to hear you're okay and that the car is not terribly hurt. It's pretty cold locally for us so I'm sure it didn't help matters in the traction department. I'm sure this is not the Christmas you were expecting but by the sounds of it, could have totally been worse.

Glad your OK. Stuff can get hairy very quickly. Luckily it ended with minimal loss. One good thing about a turbo car is you can always turn the boost down!

Tom, very glad to see you are O.K. Like you I had the exact same thing happen to me, although my beloved Black Evo wasn't as fortunate. I was very lucky. I also didn't respect the power of the car and cost me a very hard life lesson. Despite this happening, I never lost my passion for these machines. Now I'm a little more cautious and know the level of power I can handle. GL getting her back together.

Here is what happened to me

Good to hear you're ok Tom. I've wrecked my fair share of high powered vehicles. After a couple of wrecks you realize a car should be built to be driven and not something you have to hold on to!
