The New Guy, New @ Cars "Build"
Update #2: LED Replacement Project
Hey guys.
I know you missed me and my newbishness and I have done a lot of work. I am going to catch you up as fast as I can so hang in there. The next couple updates will take some time to write but I will try and catch you up so here goes.
So for the first update I ordered some new LEDs out of Amazon to replace on the incandescent bulbs. I learned in my 03 that those damn bulbs kept braking because lets face it I ran a lot of power through my car. I also ordered some 5 OHM resistors because I learned that without them you could have the issue with hyper threading.
NOTE: My camera is on my phone which is an HTC 8X so if your looking for photography level material here it might be a while. I love my phone.
Here is the install.

Final Install looked great at night.

Here in the parking lights I put in blue. I know I wasn't allowed to have them in and I was like "so I will get a ticket, lets see how long it lasts" but because I am wuss about a week later I took them out. In fact I think what did it was I was driving down the highway with my wife and I found that there must have been some street racing off the highway and the cops so me while I was on the highway. They booked past us with lights off I guess to see if we were part of it to check us out. Not to mention various other times I went past State cops. I also put these in the license plate. After a week I took them out. I still debate putting them back in the rear license plate to see how long I can go before I scare myself to put them back in or I get a ticket.

NOTE: When using LEDs you must put resistors on all of the turn signals to prevent hyperflashing (except side markers; more on that below). You must also put them on your brake light bulbs as they will cause the car to throw a check engine light and error code thinking your brake light switch is broken and give P0703 error. There are 3 wires for that bulb. Be sure to check to see which color your normal turn signal wires are and connect one end of the resistor to the extra wire and the other end to the ground wire. That will complete your brake light circuit. Do this on both sides.

Yes LEDs are in the rear turn signals, side markers, and reverse lights.

I also added smoked side marker LEDs to my sides to get rid of the Plastidipped black ones the previous owner had. Sorry I don't have a picture for those.
I also had an old 8x2 LED Blue bar in my old car I replaced the main cabin light with. I bought 2 more blues to put in the map lights in the front to match.
