I have one from the radiator support to valve cover, one from the intake manifold to firewall, and my battery is grounded directly to the transmission/block bolt.

Not sure if the extra one up front does anything. But figured it couldn't hurt.

Sometimes simplicity is best. No need to make more power and change a ton of stuff. Nail that 1-2 shift and its smooth sailing into the 8s from there! Goodluck at IFO this weekend Chris.

Chris.... you are the one drag racer that I actually follow on EVOM. I think I'm most impressed that you haven't given up the platform and moved on as most people seeking 8's eventually do.

I do have a couple questions:
1. Have you ever tested the difference with the side mirrors removed and using block off plates?
2. I would agree that your car passes as a street car but is it really used for any DD activity anymore?
3. Did you see BIG gains from moving to E98 over E85?

Thanks in advance and very well done. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Car looks great! I too have a torque solutions short shifter in my car and will be taking it out ASAP. I have never liked short shifters... In my opinion they completely kill shift quality. Interesting that Tilton recommends removing the helper spring. I am curious if I should remove it with my QM.

Jeff,

1. I have never tested anything regarding the mirrors. Being that I drive it on the street still I plan to keep the mirrors on the car. I usually just fold them in when I race.

2. I take it out on the weekends when I can. During the week I drive another vehicle. I wouldn't trust leaving the EVO at work all day. Hopefully this year I can enjoy the car more and put some mileage on it.

3. I never have tested the difference back to back. When I started buying E98 years ago I was getting it for $190 a $55 gallon drum. It was cheap and consistent to use. The few places around me that had E85 were never the same. Price has doubled since I started using it. Makes me want to switch back to E85. E98 is close to $8.00 per gallon now. Still way cheaper than VP fuels.

The IFO went ok. I was up very late the night prior to the race trying to make my new wheel/slick combo fit without rubbing. I noticed that once I put the car on the trailer and had it strapped down that my rear tires were VERY close to hitting. The new wheel/slick combo is much larger than what I used last year.

The first pass I took it very easy and just did a 1st-3rd gear pull then coasted. I wanted to launch the car and get some speed in it to check the tires. Went 11.2 @ 89 mph haha. Tires looked great and showed zero signs of rubbing.

Second pass it bogged but I went through the gears anyway. Shifting into 4th gear my clutch pedal slipped around the Tilton supplied clutch top and got stuck to the floor behind the stop. Went 11.0 @ 92 mph. I was able to free the pedal with my foot as I coasted to the end of the track.

Third pass ended up being the 1st round of eliminations for the class I was in. Found out that every other car minus one that qualified had broke or wasn't able to run due to strict tech. So my 1st round ended up being the final round for my class. I was up against a mid 8 second Supra. I rushed the two step and bogged bad!! RPM in 1st fell to almost 2500 rpm. I knew the pass was a waste as the Supra was way out in front. I lightly went through the gears making sure the clutch wasn't harmed from the prior pass. 12.2 @ 129 mph. The clutch seemed to be ok.

Fourth pass was a test and tune run. I raised the two step in hopes I wouldn't bog again. Went a little high and blew the tires off. Pulled a sloppy 1.55 sixty skating all over the place from 1st-3rd. Ran a 9.53 @ 155 mph. Tech stopped me at the end of the track and told me I wasn't able to run anymore due to lack of safety equipment.

I had to pack it up and head home. On a positive note my one round of eliminations coming in 2nd rewarded me with winning $400 Not bad for a more or less failed track outing.

I have a few little issues to work out. My slicks need broken in bad. We may throw them on a high horsepower fwd car and do a few nice burnouts to wear them in a little. They were brand new prior to the event. I also think my crank or cam sensor may be starting to fail. At the top of 4th gear on my last pass the log showed rpm cutting out twice. It was enough that I felt it while driving. Air/Fuels were in the low to mid 11's and peak boost was around 45 psi. So I know there is more left on the table. I need to get the car to sixty like it did towards the end of 2013. We made a new clutch stop the replicate the same overall outer diameter to that of the OEM stop but adjustable like the Tilton. Plan and simple the Tilton pedal stop is too small and I will not use it again. I may even pull the clutch pedal off and have a small metal plate welded to it to replace the junky rubber insert.

Not sure when the next time out will be. I am really hoping to make the East Coast Shootout event coming up soon. I'm a little worried about tech and getting the boot. It is a 6 hour one-way drive and a lot of diesel fuel. As of now I am 50/50 on making the event. It may be a few weeks before I run it again. Summit Racing Motorsport Park (aka Norwalk) runs T&T on Friday nights. I'd like to make one towards the end of the month.

I am still waiting on my Brake Man front Wilwood replacement pads to come in. I ordered them on 3/25. Once they come in I will be swapping out my front rotors/pads. The new setup should shave roughly 6 lbs. versus my current setup. I'll update the thread with a few new pictures soon. Sorry it took so long to give an update on the car.

Check out the difference between the OEM and Tilton clutch stop. Hopefully the one I made works out ok.

I have a few small things to order/replace and I should have the car back at the track soon. I hope to attend the East Coast Shootout in a few weeks.

My Brake Man front brake pads finally showed up. I'll update the thread once they are installed.
