EVOjunky - 2.0L 6766 Build Thread!
Thanks! Same for you! I know how discouraging it can be to build a car like this and my best advice is to do exactly what you did. Let it sit when you get frustrated and then come back to it with a clear head... thats what ive done for years!! haha
.. I hope you finish it and it turns out to be everything you wanted man... thats all we can always hope for in a high hp build! lol
I have to figure out how to update my sig in evom because there is a lot of stuff that is on that that is old ie 6765 instead of my 6766cea. It says i dont have priveleges to update my profile stuff weird... I wonder if its because I havent been on in awhile.

I don't even worry about my sig and stuff. Im not very tech savy LOL

But I appreciate the advise. It really takes a burning desire and clear mind to work on these things haha
I have fantastic news, though. Yesterday, I texted Chad @ CBRD and he had an extra windage tray laying around that he gave me so I could get this thing back together! So last night around 12:30am I fired her up for the first time in about a year!!! It was a fantastic feeling hearing her purr again.
Funny Side Story: So I go to start my car.. It fires right up basically and holds just under 3k for a handful of seconds and then falls down to idle.. And I thought I heard some noise initially but I had oil pressure so I didn't worry about it as I figured oil needs to get everywhere and itll quite down. Well all of the sudden it got REALLY REALLY BAD and shut it off instantly. I seriously thought I forgot to tighten a rod down or timing was way off and all my valves were having a party with my pistons. So I look over everything.. check the timing.. make sure the timing belt is tight.. make sure everything else is tight.. ect ect everything looks fine.. but I have to know what the noise is.. so I fire it back up to see if it continues right away.. it was more faint this time and I wasn't sure what the hell it could be.. I was stumped so my buddy was like just get out of the car and look over everything because I think the motor sounds fine and is running to well to have an issue.. As soon as I get out of my car, it goes away. Or should I say when I let my foot off the clutch.. I kinda forgot I had Quarter Master and when people say it sounds like $hit is falling apart they sure as hell aren't lieing!! LMFAO!
The "Shop" if you want to refer to it as that. Is located in New Oxford.. ill keep the name to myself right now. Due to a lot of reasons I have chosen to just part ways... I'm not here to slander or talk bad about the company. They have a lot of happy customers, and I was one of them, at one point. I see you are from PA... you don't happy to be Josh with the Blue 2.4l EVO 9 are ya?! Anyways, if you are considering taking your car to him and want to hear some of my experiences with him feel free to PM me. I would still recommend HOP to a certain extent.

I dealt with him first hand.
I have sold my evo since but kicking around the idea of buying another.

This is Eric , I spoke to you before about buying your AMS pan on Facebook but then you disappeared lol. Hopefully it wasn't because of the tuner/builder guy issue. I ended up getting a new one and like you said it was pretty close. Had to reverse one of the pie cuts on the o2 housing and add a 3\8" piece below it and it clears pretty good now.
Hope you get everything sorted out !
My Exedy triple sounds horrible especially in a garage. I know that feeling lol. I hate these multi disc clutches lmao

Well, hopefully your experience was better then mine and basically all my friends who went to him LOL
Regardless, I think buying another EVO is 100% what you need! This is Eric , I spoke to you before about buying your AMS pan on Facebook but then you disappeared lol. Hey dude! I apologize big time about going MIA and yes, unfortunately it was because of the issues I ran into. Im glad you still got one and everything worked in the end for you! It was a sweet pan and as of right now I regret getting rid of it. Youll have to enjoy yours twice as much for me now lol
And yea, these freakin multi disc clutches are enough to drive me crazy lol!
Another update: Just drove my car to work
Drives awesome! Loving the Quarter Master and the Hayes Racing Transmission!! The QM noise only really bother me at idle with the clutch pushed in.. The noise when pulling out I feel is more the norm then anything with multi disc clutches.. doesn't seem excessive at all.
The Bad: So the wiring harness I got must be for a different EVO... all the headlight connectors are different... WTF! AND I don't have any brake lights or reverse lights and I don't have any power at all in my driver side tail light -_- I just despise electrical issues.

Another update: Fixed all the wiring except for the headlights... not sure what to do about that yet.. but I have high beams so its good enough for me
As for the car as a whole, I absolutely love it. It drives great and is very peppy for just babying it around and being on a basemap. Im not sure how many people are local or have heard of it but we have an event called "Vag Fair" in York, PA its a massive European car event that lasts from Friday-Sunday. Anyways, I was pretty hell bent on having my car ready for this event so I could have it at all the Meets and the actual Show on Saturday and Sunday. Sure enough it made all the events and the attention it brought was insane and made every little hiccup I endured worthit!
Next steps are routing all of the vacuum lines and double checking everything... After that ill be doing one final Oil Change to make sure all is well before I setup the Appt to have it tuned. I decided to stay local and Chad @ CBRD will be dialing it in for me.. hoping to flirt with their Dyno Record

haha I like to think so!

Update: I have purchased the following items
- Sheepey Built Race Intercooler 3" In/Out - 24x12x4.5 Core.. should do the trick
- 3" STM Short Route UICP
- A New Tial BOV, Just Because lol
- AMS COP w/ M&W CDI Pro 12
- Walbro 450LPH Pump to replace one of my 255's so that Fuel doesn't hold me back

-AEM 5 Bar MAP sensor so my 4 Bar doesn't hold me back either
Next step.. make all the JAM and hurt some feelings
Some more updates. I modified my Lower IC pipe a good bit so I could get my bumper on and to take about 6-7" of unnecessary length out of it. It was a pain but I got it to work with what I had. I also had to mess around with the IC a little bit to get the bumper on but everything worked out.
I put my Oil Cooler back on the car.. I got a crappy 02 sensor plug at autozone and used it to block off the holes in the oil filter housing but they didn't seal very well and were pissing oil everywhere... as of right now the car seems to be doing very well and not leaking any oil. I also did my second oil change and the oil was as clean as could be, which makes me happy and adds some confidence to this build.
The car also made an hour and fifteen minute round trip yesterday to weekly car show without a hiccup.
Now, onto my favorite part.. after looking for the right filter and messing with the setup a bit I was able to get a filter onto my turbo which makes me EXTREMELY HAPPY!!!!
Now, onto pictures.

A few pics from Vag Fair a while back.

Who needs a dash?

And a few pics of my other toy
