Got a genuine oil pump/front case and gasket today. Now i need to mount my modified balance shaft, bolt on the timing pulley, fill the pump gears with engine assembly lube as i heard that if you dont they struggle to suck oil on first start up and then fit a blanking plug where the removed balance shaft will go.

I have been useless and not done much lately but heres what i did get around to doing.

Dropping head off at engine shop to be cleaned, planed, valves decarboned and recut, water fitting replaced, and then reassembled with new cams and valve springs and retaineners

Bought cams (kelford tx 272)

Bought valve springs and retainers (kelford)

Cleaned the oil filter housing and bolted it on along with the oil pump.

Havent really done any work except bolt on a water pump but i bought some more parts: 1.3mm Cometic head gasket
Fenix radiator
ARP Headstuds
Tomei adjustable cam gear

I didnt read the listing on the site I bought the parts off and that resulted in me only getting one cam gear because I assumed that at the price they were and the item they would come as a pair so I have to buy one more now.

Hopefully in the next week or two i can get the head bolted on and then start cleaning and reinstalling brackets, pipes ect.

Haven't done a lot lately other than clean up the thermostat housings and bolt them back on along with painting the pipe that runs down the back of the engine to the water pump. The next major thing im trying to get onto is getting a cambelt on the engine. This pic doesnt really do it justice as i took it in a dark shed with the flash and its made the alloy look shinyer than it is and the block dirtyer than it is.

The before pic of my rocker cover recon. Im going to tap where the rivets are for the baffles so i can remove them and then bolt them back in, drill out and tap 2 holes for -10 breather fittings and paint it white with the tops of the letters "doch 16 valve" black.

Here is the rocker cover painted. Im not really happy with it as I had a lot of problems painting it and it has a lot of imperfections (paint runs, dust dryed into paint ect) but as it is easy to remove later on and re-do I am just going to leave it for now.

Got a few more parts today including: knock sensor, aux belt pulley and tensioner, rocker cover bolt seals, throttle body shaft seals and gasket and a coil cover witch is unfortunately the wrong one as I have and older style rocker cover and the bolt holes are in different spots so I will need to try and get another cover. I got the valve cover bolted on with new allen headed bolts aswell.
