Wow, great job Freddie. It's nice that you and your brother work on cars to that level together. My younger brother is just not into working on cars.

We have been around cars our entire life... My dad owned his own mechanic repair shop for 30 years, my brother went to Paint and Body school right outta high school, then my brother took over the shop for around 15 years. My brother just got fed up with working on rusted out Farm Vehicles and ****ty cars in disrepair, so he packed up and moved to VA Beach to do what he loves doing, restoration and custom fabrication, he landed a job with Outlaws Rod & Custom and has been there ever since, I have been working part time there as well to help out in the front office and with parts...
I wish Jerry... I tried talking him into doing that but we ended up putting a TPI 350 into it... We have plans on a twin turbo set up for it in the future though...
Thanks, the paint helped tremendously... we painted the vortex generator a few days ago, kind of the OEM color they are supposed to be, that will be installed in the next few days...
Also my brother and I just purchased a GG IX MR that had some front end damage, so look for a new thread for that shortly once we start getting parts gathered up!
I dont think engine choice takes away from the rat rod project. But I would use a 4g63 if I were to build one. And AWD. rat rod world is cool beyond belief. but most of the builds dont look enjoyable to drive. its more like a foray in artwork.
This one actually drives really nicely... it is a tad cramped inside, but it has saddle leather/suede seats and leather/suede interior...
The biggest issue with putting a 4G63 it is was cost... we had the rear end, trans and engine at the shop for free... so it was kind of a no brainer... we basically built the car for around 10k... we would have almost had that in the engine, trans, tcase, driveshaft, and rear end... the other thing is room, there would not have been any room to do the rear as we wanted to with the way the axles are set up... it is on air bags...
The interior panels were beyond bringing back as they were stained badly with little black specs... would not come off with anything... so I ordered some CF vinyl and wrapped it yesterday... Came out pretty good... I didn't wanna really wrap the Radio bezel but it looked crappy not wrapped... so I went ahead and did it...
Next, I found a set of used GSC S1s local for a steal, and the guy delivered them to the shop for me and those were installed yesterday as well... While I was doing the install, I noticed that the motor side of the timing belt had been rubbing on something.
Fast forward to today, and I did a timing belt on it today... I had a slightly used belt off my black car that had around 7000 miles on it, so that went in. There was a bit of oil in the front case and it seems that no one put thread sealer on any of the tensioner bolts during the last timing belt service, and it had to come out to get compressed anyway, so they have sealant now as well...
