I did too haha ! How much does something like that actually reduce temps down? Glad the car is still being worked on, hopefully you finish it soon.

Stupid pics aren't uploading right. Here's another. Notice the oil shedding coating on the rods

One note: My engine builder thinks that the ACL balance shaft bearings are made in China. Not sure if that's true, but I certainly trust his opinion that they weren't round.

He did say the WPC treated balance shafts spun like a top when he slid them in the existing bearings in my block. But I'm gonna get some OEM ones and have them WPC treated

It reduces underhood temps by making it harder for the heat to work it's way out of the metal. By retaining it in the exhaust the system becomes more efficient.

NEVAH!!!!

Well, it shouldn't add any additional time since I had to buy new main bearings since one of the shells was f-ed. Both will be at WPC at the same time and Izumi-san is great with the turnaround

My OCD won't allow me not to treat a bearing surface...especially the much-maligned balance shafts lol

I would lean towards deleting the shafts since you have an aftermarket rotating assembly. The harmonics are going to be different then a stock engine. Adding an ATI dampner would be a good idea with the big crank as well.

I'm all for Balance shafts in a stock bottom end with a rev limit close to 8000. They were intended for that type of life with those parts.
You could WPC treat the bearings before you turn them

I have a Fluidampr...one of the lighter weight aluminum ones

I have gone back and forth on the balance shafts like 5 times. I think I've settled on keeping them in. Don't plan on revving much beyond 8000 with a 2.3 and an FP Red.

Don't mess with with my head Abacus

BTW, I value your input so thanks for sharing.

The work by ATP is incredible. I can literally put my hand between the turbo and firewall right after coming off track on my Evo 10 without burning my hand. People scoff at the price of the inconel work but to me it's worth every.single.penny

Oh, and the OEM heatshield will still fit over it, which is great since I live in California.

ATP does really, really good work. While this isn't a "cheap" option, the fit and finish is top notch.

Also, I may have found a local engine builder I trust. Getting the details hammered out. If that happens, it's money I can put into getting the suspension rebuilt instead of shipping to English. English will be tuning the car regardless, except for the break-in tune.
What exactly is a break in tune ? I keep searching and asking question but no legitimate or honest answers

Usually just a base map that's on the car populated with predefined values that are known to work with that combination of parts without any major timing or boost.

Yeah, what Pal said.

I don't have inconel shielding for my hotside, but I do have a custom turbo blanket by PTP. And also both OEM heatshields should fit over the inconel and everything is ceramic coated as well. Plus the Works downpipe I got is Swain coated. I know what my car feels like with swain coated exhaust manifold, hotside and o2 housing (it was still hot) so I'm looking forward to what the heat is like with the inconel.

Just got the OEM BS bearings and ACL race main bearings back from WPC (one of the ones I had was messed up and ACL BS bearings weren't truly round). Engine builder should have received them yesterday.

I go in to see him for a radiator replacement (BMW's are fun when things start going bad) next week, so I hope to report more progress.
