STM's 2016 Focus RS Build Thread (and how it stands against the Evo 8/9/X)

Hi everyone! I've been pretty quiet on the forums lately, perfectly content with my 2005 Evo "Ricer" and the 2014 STM Evo X. I work at STM and handle the product & car photography and website... and I get to drive some pretty cool cars.

So... The 2016 Focus RS is here, and I'm going to tell you all about it!

To make things easy, we've got all our photos and updates on our website here:

STM 2016 Focus RS Project

I haven't even gotten to drive it yet! Well, drove it from the parking lot straight into the shop for the guys to start taking things apart.

First impression: Power seats. Didn't expect that. haha

On to the good stuff. STM has a Heartbreaker AWD Mustang Dyno. Our brand new Hellcat just laid down 534 HP and 480 TQ. It is just a number, but is fantastic when compared from vehicle to vehicle on the same machine.

Impressive, Ford, not gonna lie.

So far, we have added some Nokya Yellow Fog Lights and picked up at least 20 WHP But here's some photos for anyone who is interested. I'll be taking a lot more!

Time for a diet.

Stay tuned for more!

-Shawna

Nice, the stock dyno's Ive seen vs EvoX and Sti's are pretty interesting. The engine doesn't rev like the 4G63 does, but it has a ton of early torque.

Cobb mentioned doing the dyno pulls in FWD only, since the power will get cut if dynoed in AWD. Is the dyno sheet showing a standard AWD pull or did you guys do a FWD pull only?

Hats off to STM for the high quality work they do

But, This Ford is no where near the level of the EVO 8/9 OEM build. The drive shaft looks undersized & the suspension components are mere steel stampings. Way too much electronic gadgetry. Compare the EVO RS to the Ford RS (less is always more)
Wont be in my future

Could you guys overlay an old stock or stock + flash IX to the RS dyno? Would be interesting to see where or if the IX takes over on top end tq.

I know for sure we have a completely stock Evo 8 RS graph I want to add to the collection, but not sure on a IX. I'll see what we have in the system.

I'm beyond excited for this thread! You guys go way beyond just a typical build thread, it's always a well documented autobiography of the car. Can't wait to see what's to come!

Next dyno I'd like to see is 100% stock + tune only on both for comparison.

The RS's torque curve is incredible. That thing must pull SO hard when you bury your foot into the carpet.

There is a video out there claiming that the drivetrain is maxed out stock. The potential in the engine hasn't been determined, but I will be keeping an eye out on this.

It was said that this car isn't a good platform to start modding unless you are going to be building the drivetrain. It will be interesting to see this as it progresses forward.
