thanks! honestly the car feels really heavy compared to the evo in day to day driving, pretty sluggish etc. but doing pulls and in autox, not bad at all. i'm excited to give it a shot on the track

That would the the somewhat torque anemic small V8, and tall gearing, and heavier car you're feeling with the sluggishness in "normal" around town driving. Drive it more like your Evo, keep the rev's above 3-3500, and they're nice and peppy.

yea you're right. it's weird, the car is accessible from 1-2k where the evo would be dying and sputtering, but better at higher rpm's - here's the autox I did in it from yesterday:


there is legitimately something wrong with the pedal though - my 07 corolla's pedal is firmer than the M3's right now, it's just mush the top third with almost zero braking until the bite. I'm going to start flushing fluid through, but man this feel SUCKS. one of the worst I've ever felt.

Wonder how the V8 compares to the newer straight 6 twin turbo. My friend has one with the comp package and I'm pretty sure it has almost 500hp out of the box.

those cars are insanely fast. a different class from the v8 m3, much, much faster

was talking to a few guys - they are saying, if i have a lip on the rotor, that could cause some pedal feel distortion. i took a loop at the rotors last night, and they do indeed have about a 1mm lip on all the edges for all 4 corners. i can see how that could cause some problems in feel, i.e., if the pad is partially on the lip. i checked with a local shop, and they said $10-15 per rotor to get the lip down. pretty cheap check before getting all new rotors for sure, anyone have any insight/input on this? my rotors have never developed lips before on any of my cars, so i'm not familiar with this issue. it could also explain why the oem pad is ok, if it's already worn out to not ride on the lip itself.

It's very possible that could be a problem. Most OEM pads don't use 100% of the rotor surface, and you get a lip. If the aftermarket pad is a smidge bigger, it'll ride on that lip.

upon closer inspection, after everything has been taken apart - it's difficult to imagine that the amount of lip on there is doing much of anything. with the pad on tightly, even the aftermarket pads don't really seem to make much contact with the lip. definitely not in the rear. still, cheap to get these lips machined off so i will do so. then reassemble everything, and i guess bleed. if none of this works, i'll live with it. still hard to believe my 07 corolla with 235k miles has better pedal feel than my m3

dropped off the rotors this morning - took long because two of the rotor bolts had stripped, ****ing things.

guy there said it was a reach to put the soft pedal on the rotors, which i agree with, but he said not a bad idea to turn with new pads nonetheless. hope i haven't already put too many miles on the pads. will possibly get them back on the car later tonight, install the new rubber bushings & pins onto the calipers, and rebleed etc. this weekend.
