Well its from a base model lancer and then I had it and my valve cover hydrodipped to the wood grain. I just wanted something a little different and I'd say this definitely did the job lol.
Pic of valve cover for fun
And a picture of the car to complete the look lol

Reason: Added a picture of the car
While I'm working on the bigger stuff for the long term, I will be changing up the look inside Allison (that's her name by the way...car has to have a name, and when I got her I felt like "Alice in Wonderland."...Alice in...Allison...never mind). I've ordered a new 3-gauge pod as well as some AEM digital gauge replacements. I'd like to get the boost gauge off the steering column as well. My goal has always been to have a blink-and-you'll-miss-it modded look. Meaning I've always wanted it to look as stock as possible while still being different. The digital gauges will definitely stand out, but any cleanliness I lose with that will be hopefully made up by getting rid of the column mount pod. Parts should be arriving any day now so pics to follow. Autometer analog boost gauge. Stock MR gauges relocated.
The stock MR gauges are cool when they work lol My oil temp gauge only worked half the time probably due to some wiring issue with the sensor that goes bad over time. The gauge mount they come in kinda sucks too..I designed and 3D printed an angled pod that gives better visibility and recesses them a bit so they don't get sun faded as bad, but still the gauges just don't offer great visibility..
I eventually switched over to the Defi DIN gauge pack and I highly recommend if if you're going for the OEM look with some added functionality. They actually look more OEM than the OEM MR gauges since the red matches the OEM cluster. There was a gap so I 3D printed a trim piece with text that lights up with a small LED.

yeah, the OEM gauges are all but useless. Also, The oil temp sensor usually breaks at the wire where it goes into the drain plug. Most people are pretty rough with it. The rest of the wiring is surprisingly robust. I was impressed.
Getting started. I'm still waiting on two gauges but I'm starting by getting everything sorted with the old MR gauges. ...pretty sure the stock boost gauge tube routes through the firewall, past the wheel well, up into a Canada a bit, and finally back down to the engine bay.

if you ever want to sell that arc spark cover im calling it

I also had a stock gauge cluster on my car installed by the dealer. In my case, the vac line routes along the AC lines in the engine bay by the passenger side shock tower. Behind the coolant over flow tank the line doubles back to go behind the fender then up over the wheel, and comes into the passenger compartment at the big plug where the back of the fender and the front of the passenger door meet. It then runs behind the glove box over to the DIN opening. I'm pretty sure they were all run the same way. Just in case you ever need to pull the vac line out.

I was looking at the Defin DIN Gauge pack. I read that the gauges are angled a bit to the drivers side of the RHD cars. Did you observe that? Any issues with visibility with the angle? I REALLY like what you did with the labels. That's really nice. I've been struggling to figure out what gauges I want. Unfortunately, the DEFI Din pack only offers 2X temp and 1X pressure correct?
Well I got one gauge installed this weekend. Next up will be boost and finally AFR. I've got my old Autometer boost gauge stuck in there for now, but they will all be AEM digital. I'm using the stock MR vacuum tube which looks far more reliable than the tube that was on the Autometer, the tap of which I capped off. I know some folks have different brands of gauges and that function is more important than form...but no, helllllll no, I need to have them all the same. Oh, also recharged the AC for the first time in...oooooh...ever.
The old autometer is just halfa$$in it in there for now. Ironically the AEM fit better into the Autometer pod than the Autometer gauge.

Never seen that Defi setup before matches perfectly with the Evo interior, great find!

Thx! This is the LHD version so the visibility is great and you're correct: 2x temp and 1 pressure so I'm using them for coolant temp and oil temp/press. A boost gauge is a must-have for me so I also have a 52mm Defi mechanical boost gauge on a custom 3D printed pod on my steering column that's offset to the right instead of the left like the Autometer:
When I get the AEM Uego I'm probably gonna hide it somewhere since its ugly as hell lol btw if any of you guys are interested in any of the 3d printed stuff lmk!
