Quick update: The Evo is relaxing in the garage for these winter months. Her FA 500s ride like a dream, most of the new gauges are installed (though I'm waiting on the wideband to seal the deal...and I >> might << put the boost back on the steering column), and she's got some new Hankook shoes to play with next summer.
Also, little off topic but oh well, we have a new member of our automotive family. I picked up a 2016 Scion tC RS 10 (number 541 of 1200 apparently) this past Saturday. It's a fwd 4 cylinder making about 179hp at the wheels and gaudy lights under the dash to boot, but damn is she purty. I've always had a love of tC's so when this one showed up with a six speed manual and 48k miles I couldn't pass her up. She'll be my winter car and, naturally, I've promised everyone there will be no major modifcations. *COUGH COUGH COUGH* Honest. *cough*
And now, Miss Scarlett...ooon an Evo forum:
Green, red, blue, purple, yellow...I can change them to anything with the push of a button. Gaudy af and I love it.
While my Evo sits out the winter months and my tC takes the brunt of mother nature...my mind is drifting to spring time projects. First one might not even be car related--I'm considering insulating our garage. There's still plenty of work I'd like to be doing during these months, but our freezing cold garage is no place to do it. Anyone have any experience? I'm thinking simple fiberglass and plywood all around and up top, but I honestly have no idea how much I'm looking at.

Getting things going again here. I've got one wall insulated in the garage and a TON of junk cleared out. And as an early birthday present I've got a brand new jack...and comparing this to my old one? HOooOOoLy crap. I don't even know how the other one ever lifted the car.
For projects I finally want to tackle that ACD pump, as well as get a much needed AFR installed. First things first, it's been WAY too long since she's had a change of drivetrain fluid. The first picture below is the rusted-over fill plug; the second is the same plug after Deep Creep and a bit of elbow grease. Still hasn't budged. I'm going to keep soaking it because the last thing I want is a (completely) stripped bolt. It's already damaged enough as it is. If nothing else, at least I tried the fill BEFORE draining the whole thing.
Anyhoo, updates to follow. Sooo much better. Rusted over. Shiiiii
In my effort to keep both this thread as well as this forum alive, here's yet another needless update with massive photos. I'll be getting the downpipe out soon to weld a bung, so while she's on stilts I'm getting to the drivetrain fluids.
This space reserved for wideband. Just need a quick downpipe weld and we're good to go. Took out the seat to work out a point of entry, which I think should be just under the --YO WHO GOT NERDS ON MY FLOOR?! Diff drain. OEM all day.
I've removed the downpipe and took off the front axle crossmember braces. In doing so, I met two bolts who haven't been touched in about 17 years and proceeded to decapitate them. Normally, with an extractor set, this wouldn't be a problem. But holy crap these things eat drill bits and punches alike. I can't even get a starter hole going without my punch flattening out. I'm sure I can get the one further back undone as a good chunk is still sticking out, but the one up front is almost completely flush. My welding skills are non-existent so I'm thinking of just getting it to a shop. Before I do that, just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Please and thank you.
Minor PITA. Major PITA. This thing has literally said to me "bahahaha starter hole my ***!" :-\
That one and the one with two bolts. I took them down to get the downpipe off a little easier and wound up snapping them. Ideally I'd like to get two new brackets on there but first need to extract these broken pieces from hell. I've got some centering drill bits and a spring punch on order so hopefully that helps.
