Hey, guys! I just got the car a couple of days ago and I had some questions for advice (since I'm a complete newbie regarding automotive knowledge) later down the line when I have the money for modifications.

Is there another car that has an AWD drivetrain that'd fit in my '16 Lancer? I couldn't find the exact trim I'd wanted, so I was content with just this for now as I'd gravely needed transportation for my custody visits with my son.

I'm also not sure if it's frowned upon, but I'm also looking into trying to get a different make's engine and trans to swap into my lancer later down the line. There's a wrecked 2024 Acura TLX near me with the turbo V6 Engine and Trans still intact that's getting auctioned off that nobody has bid on yet. Would it even be remotely possible? I know I'd need a wiring harness that works, I'm just entirely ignorant as of right now. If so, is it also possible to make that kind of swap without dropping more than $10k after the intial amount I spent to get the Acura TLX in my hands?

Anything is possible with enough time and money but I wouldn't bother in your case.

If you really want a faster lancer, save up and buy an Evo.

Given your self stated new to car knowledge, a big swap like that is about the worst possible way to get started. Just drive the lancer you have, do maintenance and learn as you go.
Eventually buy a second car to tinker on so you aren't messing with your reliable transportation and continue to learn on that.

 

Go middle ground and find a Ralliart, has turbo, AWD. Likely get one around 10k for you guys? Be a way better platform to start.
