Here's an example to explain better. Let say like you said, bare block from the dealer cost $1300.... That is STOCK, for someone looking to build a high horsepower sleeved motor (meaning performance sleeves like DARTON for example). Why pay $1300 for a new one just to have the stock sleeves removed and replaced when you can pay the $900 I am asking for. The $400 you are saving can be put towards the machining cost for installing the new sleeves.

well im saying this bc for what im doing the stock sleeves would be good enough. The stock sleeves would be fine on 500hp so I wouldnt have to spend an extra say $1000 on aftermarket sleeves, which would put me around $1900 for a block. If you are willing to sell the block for like $500 I would take it asap

This is going off the receipt I have for this short block when I bought it from the dealer. Retail price is $2715.00, since I work for a shop and have a wholesale account, I was able to pay $2172.00 which is 20% off the retail price.
You can also check here on SOCALMITSU's parts web site, http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...layCatalogid=0 now remember if the block was needed to be shipped, it is something that is not cheap due to it's size and weight.
So I can't doubt you on finding a NEW OEM short block for $1900 like you said but remember a lot of times people don't bother looking further into things to find the hidden fees and such.

oh i know what you are saying about all that and stuff, but when people are buying stuff used, they look at CURRENT selling prices, not what the seller paid initially for it. if you paid $1,000 for something a few years ago, and currently it sells at $400, there is no way you are going to get $500 from it, or even the $400 that its worth, simply because its used and cheaper currently elsewhere....
if i pay 900 for your block, get it sleeved, thats about $2100 for basically a block I could pay $1100 for.
