I thought of that but could not find anything. Got to be something available somewhere

Removing the power steering on an EVO and leaving the stock rack is nearly suicidal. Believe me, don't do it. When we built our Black drag EVO we removed it, it was nearly impossible to control. Then we had a custom Mustang 2 rack built for it, manual rack, and that fixed the issues we were having. Without a proper manual rack it's a poor idea.

The brakes, you answered your own question on Dan. The pedal is hard, it requires more effort from your leg to stop, if you don't want a firm pedal and your leg to do more work then it's not for you. Personally, I love mine.

I have a guy working on a better electric power steering pump than the MR2, you guys renewed my interest in the project. Give me a little time.

I think most people would buy a proper manual rack over an electric unit if drag racing. A manual rack vs a non assisted power rack are vastly different.

Ok so for now I will leave the booster on until I can drive a car with the booster delete kit.

I am interested. But also is the manual rack you custom made something simpler to make production ??

I don't really care about the evos quick lock to lock on the wheel. I do not do much turning so that does not bother me. Is there a way to re gear "or how ever a rack works" the stock rack to make it like a manual rack for easy turning?

There is no easy way to put the Mustang II rack in the car, took some fabrication to make it happen. The quick steering is going to be gone with any manual rack conversion.

The key to the manual brakes is the pad choice. I've found some outstanding pads but everything that really works well with the manual brakes also squeels a lot.

just a boring update.

sanding and sanding and sanding and sanding. like some of you said. prep is everything so i am being very meticulous and trying to go very slow. starting with the red pads and then going to the smoother gray. my plan is once i am done sanding then i will wash it off and go over it again with the gray pad real quickly.

things are also slow because of the home renovations. walls and sealing are all painted and i think we go pick out are carpet this week. i still have to lay the floor in the bathroom and some other crap. this project is priority so the evo has been getting 20 min sanding sessions LOL.

upper and lower rad support is completely shaved, sanded and smoothed and so is the driver side frame rail and strut tower area. it is coming along great IMO. i am no body man so i cant say for sure but i am pretty happy with my work so far.

the fire wall is 100% shaved and ready for sanding and smoothing off. the passenger side frame rail is also ready for sanding.

so far i have used 4 red pads and 2 gray. i am going threw them quickly because i want to try and keep the abrasiveness consistent. they seem to get less abrasive as i use them. maybe this is part of my OCD issues. i also found some stuff to ''trim'' in the engine bay. i do not know if it will weigh much of anything in the end but it sure will make it look sleek when finished. 99% of people wont even notice it. but i think that will be a good thing.

i ordered the metal glaze, 2K clear coat, spray handle, tack rags. i hope there here soon.

great news dave. I'd be interested in the Electric PS pump setup... I looked into that before, but passed over it.

And... i sent you a PM Dan about brakes.

ok here is how far i got so far. the hole driver frame rail is done, upper/lower rad supper, firewall. the only thing i have left to do is the passenger side frame rail. everything is extremely smooth.

what do you think so far? it may not look it but i have a damn good amount of hours into this. once the passenger side is done i will then ''magic glaze'' the spots i need to and re sand the areas i did. then i will wash it back off and then go over it again real quick with a smooth gray pad again. right now i am using red to start and then once i feel that area is done i hit it with the gray pad.
