Evodan2004 has lost his mind part 3. The new changes and goals for 2013.
the car is near 200lbs lighter then last year and 42lbs of that is rotational. the car should be as good as 2600 if i get my other idea's completed. it will be interesting to see how it gos.
When the geometry of a rotating shaft is modified, it can run into a risk of what's called "shaft whirling".... this behavior is basically caused by its center of mass rotating "away from the center line"...etc
They are using a single long piece instead of the stock design which is supported in multiple places (for better control), however, it is made out of carbon fiber so the deflection and mass properties had changed as well and whirling may be avoided at least for his setup (gearing, rev limit...etc)

sigh
.
so i bolted the trans, TC and the 3 trans mounts in place today to get started on the driveshaft install. i see a potential major problem. as you know the carrier mounts need to be removed which is no big deal. the problem i am seeing is the tunnel needs to be modified HEAVILY to get this to fit. not just a tap here or there and your good. i am going to make sure the trans and TC are in and alined properly but im 99% sure with the side, rear and cross mounts in it is 100% spot on. the problem i see with modifying the tunnel is many things bolt to it. underneath is a spot welded long bracket that has all the mounting points on it. removing this is 100% impossible and modifying it can lead to major alignment issues when re bolting things from the inside.
stay tuned as i plan to look into this further. i just do not have the time today to work on it any more.

I had to modify my tunnel a bit for a carrier for my torqline driveshaft but this sounds much more extensive lol. Perhaps this is the reason why many ppl don't run the 1pc ?
In for pics
In for pics
i took some pics last night. ill get them up later.
i spoke to PST today. mark ''the guy along side me on this project'' is out of town. the other guy i spoke to said the same thing i have seen. that is very odd as we have a few guys running this and nothing was reported about modifying the tunnel. just the removal of the carrier mounts. something is incorrect here. i really hope on my end. tomorrow i should get a few hours to toy with this a little more. so anyone who wants this thing hang in there. im not giving up just yet.
i drew a yellow line right where the driveshaft hits to top of the tunnel.

and here it is touching the top of the tunnel and how off it is from lining up to the rear.
