trans and engine out the top? i didnt think it was possible without scratching stuff. i do not have the height to drop everything out the bottom.

I was expecting to see more pics by now! haha

I always drop the trans from the bottom, then pull the motor out of the top. Always did it that way on my 1g, so I did it that way on the evo. I will say, the 1g was A LOT easier than the evo was to do it this way.

with a leveler it makes it possible, It allows you to put it at an angle and pull it. Ive done top, bottom, in pieces etc. I prefer top all one piece with a leveler the best. I tape everything every time I work on the car anyways just in case.

Do you have the transfer case still in the car pulling everything out from the top or do you remove that first

I've done both. Sometimes I strap it away from the trans sometimes I pull it. The only thing I always remove is the radiator and turbo/manifold. Allows it to be pulled forward away from the firewall. Last time I put the engine in it was done and ready to fire in an hour and a half but my car is simpler than a stock car.

I drop the whole thing out the bottom all at once. Seperating the trans first is a PITA. I would rather pull the whole thing out the bottom then just pull the trans alone. I guess a lot depends on whether you are working on a lift or not. I like pulling the front bumper and IC and radiator so I have lots of room. I am going to pull the motor out of my car hopefully in two weeks. I was going to do it today but the trailer brakes broke. Last time I did it I had two motors out and in two cars in two days with a trans rebuild in between.

You have to lower it unless you cut the bar out. But unless you are installing a new one, has to be lowered eventually to get the new one in...

Dash is out and I removed the shifter cables, throttle cable, some aftermarket wiring. Next is the heater core and brake booster.
