Another tip if you want to remove a few more ounces. There is a little bit of seam sealer which is kinda hard to prep anyways around the shock tower tops. It scrapes off really easy especially with a heated putty knife. Then just use some adhesive remover on a rag and clean the rest of the seam out.

I thought about it actually not for weight but for looks. You don't think it will loose its purpose by removing it???

There is a ton of little things in these bays that can be removed. Once you have the engine out you will find more things to remove. Anything you still use on the firewall mark with a piece of tape or something. Once its all out its hard to remember all the studs you use and the ones you don't. At least it was for me, I ended up leaving a few on I didn't need because I couldn't remember.

also can you get better pics of your shock towers so i can get a better idea of what your talking about. i used a flat head screw driver and started pealing that crap off but i want to make sure im doing what im supposed to be haha.
