For those of you with ACD pump failures (merged)
Honestly this is the only statement that matters. It's a '10 with 25k miles on it. That part is still 100% within warranty. No power mods would affect that pump. Take it to another dealer, if they won't fix it then call mitsu corporate and raise a ****storm. That's completely unacceptable.

I will have to end up doing just that because its ridiculous that they did no effort in having it repaired under warranty. Get this, I asked the service manager an honest opinion if it was safe to drive the vehicle (I now know thanks to you guys), and all he gave me was a simple reply; "There is no telling" ...WTF that is why they are professional technician to be able to answer a question like that. Shouldn't he have said, "I wouldn't recommend you driving" or "Yeah, you should be okay to drive the vehicle without any issues"
That is what pissed me off the most that I couldn't get a better answer. Luckily, members here are cooperative.
powertrain warranty is 5 years. I've seen people get it covered under that. I've also heard people say mitsu claimed it wasn't covered under powertrain (which is ridiculous). Either way, it's worth the fight.

If you locate a dealer - Kansas is fine with me - that will actually go to bat for an owner to get Mitsu to fix a pump under the powertrain warranty, please tell us (or just me by PM). I have until October. But I won't be sitting on the edge of my seat waiting, as my butt would most likely be split in two.
ROFL to the seat joke.
I can't say I have much experience with dealerships in Kansas. Max Madsen in aurora, IL though was an amazing dealership who treated me very well and covered several things under warranty that I was afraid I was going to get nailed for. However, I had a history of doing business with them.
It's one of the funny things I see with these forums and everyone's hate for dealerships. People forget that actually having a history with a place and getting to know the service manager who will then fight for you can be very helpful.

So I'm at about 86k on my 2010 WW and I'm finally getting the dreaded ACD-C1616E code. I know this means my pump is most likely going, but what does running without it really do? Doesn't it shift the power from front to back? Would running with a dead pump mean it's stuck in FWD, RWD, or a crappy version of AWD? All I know is that it provides some sort of mechanical wizardry and makes the car handle well. Thanks in advance for my any advice on my potentially stupid questions!
Also call me crazy but the car feels faster in a straight line!

Mine is dying too. I've been told that it just won't lock. It will still be AWD but you could have more tire spinning issues depending on how you drive and what surfaces you drive on. I'm planning on getting mine rebuilt by these guys and maybe even have them throw in a new ACD map for me while I'm at it.
Total thumbs on Matt at ACD Tuning, if you have it rebuilt.
As to driving with a dead pump, as Red said above, the center and rear will be wide open, but that's all. It will be sort of like driving a DSM, instead of an Evo.
With regard to the car feeling better or faster, the faster part is just in your head, but the better part might not. I didn't really grok just how bad the stock maps are until my pump died.
edit: I have moved the OT discussion of ACD/AYC issues on gravel to here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...iscussion.html

Yup, and it seems to still work at times. Small rock chips but mechanically all great! I have an ETS 4" fmic(60k) uicp(60k), AEM intake(15k), and Cobb AP(20k) with Stage 1 LWG OTS tune. Need to figure out which exhause to get and then a 3port and pro tune and I should be done for power (I hope, but who knows).
