Unhappy '11 MR Stage 1 + SF intake - 1 bad pull (v403 ACN91)

Hi all,

First post on this forum; if I'm missing anything please let me know, and thanks ahead of time!

I'm running the v403 map for my 2011 MR from the post at near the top of this forum. I was running v401 previously and was suffering from the idle drop upon releasing the brake from a complete stop. For me this has disappeared with v403 maps.

After installing the v403 maps I logged a bit to get some data for reference.

I've looked at the data but don't know what to look for specifically besides max boost in a column, and knock count.

The first 3 logs seemed fine, and the car felt fine. For the last pull I was in 6th at a low RPM and went WOT to get a nice slow pull. Right around 3500 it knocked like crazy and the service engine light flickered, so I lifted immediately.

Reviewing the last log I see a string of 15ish cells with a knock count of more than 10 per cell, 19 being the worst.

The other pulls in lower gears felt really good and have minimal knock so I don't know exactly what happened.

If someone with more experience could take a look at the logs that would be very helpful. I want to send the logs in to COBB (though I'm not sure to who) as well, but they'll be gone for the holidays soon, and if this map is dangerous for the car I'd rather know now.

The car:
2011 MR
COBB AP v403 ACN91 map
COBB SF Intake

Thanks ahead of time,
Ryan

you need to do a 4th gear pull around 3k rpm to put the correct load on the engine.

Is the stage 1 map set up to run the Cobb sf intake?

And yea, 6th gear is not a good gear for logging

Do 4th as mentioned above. On my gsr I log from 2000 to 7300.

You are using the wrong gear my friend, hopefully you didn't damage your engine rod.

Still doesnt change the fact he's getting high knock counts in 6th. He should be able to go WOT in any gear.

Not saying you cant wot at 6th gear, just not at 2000RPM because it will cause too much stress and bend a rod. You can go wot at 4000RPM 6th gear it's fine but just not less than 4000RPM, you can imagine using your thumb to support 10 LBS of weight than tried using your pinky to support 10 lbs of weight concept is the same.

I took a look at your logs and they all look fine aside from the last log with the high knock counts. As others have said, it is typically not recommended to go wide open throttle in a high gear at very low RPM due to the tremendous load it puts on the engine. That in conjunction to running a SF Intake on a map not calibrated for it is a recipe for detonation. If the car is currently running normal then you should be okay, but PM me your email address and I can get you a map that is correctly tuned for the intake you are running.

AFR logging is available if you select beta firmware or the beta version Access Tuner Race.

+1 for the analogy, that's actually quite good...
