My car was backed into not too long ago, and I thought the same exact thing. I'm still driving the car every day and cringe at the thought of selling it. I do know that the damage was there and repaired (had the driver side quarter replaced and luckily that was the extent of the damage), but it doesn't really bother me, especially once I get behind the wheel.
46k mile Evos are very hard to come by and I probably would have sold mine if it didn't have less than 50k on it, but we have gems that need some loving. The car now has character and a bit of history that you yourself were [unfortunately] able to facilitate.
You know the car, you know what happened, you know what else is wrong with the car (if anything), don't let a knee jerk reaction lead you to getting rid of it because unless you buy something brand new you might end up with something way worse than what you have, regardless of the price tag or emblem on the trunk.
Not sure where the process is at this point, but I say drive it for the summer and if you just physically can't deal with it, get rid of it in the fall. It's your car, your money, and some strangers on a forum can't tell you how to run your life, so the decision is ultimately up to you.
Sucks to hear and see, but **** happens man and life goes on. At least you have your health and the car will still be fun to drive after all is said and done, I promise you that.
You definitely have some valid points. However, I saw your thread and it looked like the damage was only panel damage.
My damage involves frame damage. I went over there the other day and was informed they had to replace some rail near the rear suspension. I didn't even up getting the actual name of the part because I was so flustered after hearing about this new front-end damage.
I think it might have been the part I circled in red (this is not my car, but this part looks like the part I saw on the floor of the shop):
That scares the crap out of me...
I'm going to drive it for a few months and see how it feels. The unfortunate thing is I wanted to get a tune this summer, but now with the accident I don't know if I want to spend any big money on mods right now...
State Farm has denied the front-end damage claim due to not being able to prove that the damage occurred during the accident (the woman cited lack of paint transfer). They have given me till Wednesday until they cut off the rental car. They claim they are calling the driver who hit me to see if I could have been pushed into the car in front of me and are acquiring a copy of the police report. I don't understand how they have denied the claim, yet are claiming they are doing this additional research???
I got this picture (I'm trying to get it on non potato resolution, but the idiots at State Farm don't seem to be able to get it to me in original resolution) from the first estimate:
It honestly doesn't look like it was there when it was originally dropped off.... But with the potato quality it's hard to tell...
Here are picture after I found out about the damage...
BUT, If you can't get SF to pay make a deal with the body shop, new fender and paint for 400-500, that looks to be all that it needs. STM sells the fender new for like $340 shipped.

That either happened as part of the accident, or the body shop did it. I would be raising hell.
This whole process is making me sick and I'm tired of fighting, so I ended up making a claim through my own insurance... The adjuster from my insurance says there is no way to attribute the damage to the rear-end accident. She was also perplexed by the damage and said it was one of the weirdest things she has ever seen...
The shop owner knows my Mom and swears they did not cause the damage. I personally think something might have happened when the car was on the frame aligner??? Maybe the car slipped or one of the arms of the machine hit the car? Again I don't know how frame aligners work so I have no idea. What also makes me think they had something to do with it is the owner says I won't have to pay a lot... I have still yet to find out what this actually means.
Next time I get in an accident I will definitely be cataloging ever inch of the car to avoid this **** from happening again. I thought I could trust professionals handling the car.
It's also a joke that the resolution State Farm's inspection photos are 640x480. How are you in this business and not taking and storing these inspection photos at least 1080p... So stupid.
I better get at least get $3k when I file a diminished return claim against State Farm.
Ouch dude I got ran off the road by an old man 2 years ago. Did some damage, and of course, it was the 'younger guy in the sports cars fault' when gramps claimed he was in his lane. Hope she gets repaired quickly.
I picked up the car today. Unfortunately I did it after the shop closed (they left the keys out for me) because I had looked at earlier and I told them about a few minor things they needed to fix.
When turned the car on the check engine light was still on... I didn't even think to check it earlier because I figured they wouldn't have left it on?!?!?!?
The code is P0446 (P0446 Evaporative Emmission Control System Vent Control Circuit). This is the thing that was hanging from the back of the car when I got hit... I cleared the code and when I turned the car back on a few hours later the code came back. So there is still something wrong.
Another problem is the steering feels heavy and the steering pump is making a weird noise as I turn the steering wheel. This is suspect because I was told they needed to replace the reservoir because there was a leak in it. I wonder if it needs to be bled? When I checked the reservoir right after driving the fluid was below the low line... but I think that may be fine?
I don't understand how they gave me the car back in this condition...
