I got rear ended on my way to work today. I merged behind a gypsy cab doing 40 mph on 55 mph highway and a lady traveling down the highway smashed into me... I don't know how fast she hit me.
Here is the damage. I didn't think it was that bad until I saw the the trunk looks to be crooked... What do you guys think?
I'm sorry this happen to you mate. Luckily the damage looks repairable and nobody is dead. The repair shop will most likely drill out the spot welds and replace the entire driver side quarter panel. They will probably keep the trunk lid as it didn't really sustain any damage.
That side of the car has your evap/fuel lines. I'm sure that if anything happen to them you'd know by know.
Good luck with everything, hope she pays for what she's done.
that sucks dude.
doesnt look aligned anymore. only insurance claims people will tell u how it is. internet folks will just blab about...
I'm trying to use it as a form of therapy.

Yeah I was very happy no one was injured. The woman actually thanked me for not flipping out on her because she knew she was in the wrong.. She was nice which helped ease my frustration..
I'm just hoping there is not any frame damage

Yeah I'm nervous about finding someone good...

That's the one reason why I am not TOO upset. One of my JDM tails was slightly nicked and I will be expecting them to replace it as well.
That sucks, I certainly know the feeling. Ive had mine for two and a half years and it's been put in the body shop 4 times now, none of which were my fault.
Every accident you drive away from is a good accident, look at a JDM bumper replacement, I just went through this with my son, a guy ran into his car parked and wiped out every panel down the side of his car, as long as their insurance company give you a claim number you're good to go then get it to a good recommended repairer, pref someone you know who has used them before, then talk about repairs and how you want it done, some places have replacement cars also, it's now all about being available to go through the processes

Well it looks like something may have happened to the evap/fuel lines... My check engine light came on as I driving home from work today..
First question: How stupid would it be to drive the car with these things dislodged and without reading the code first? I was thinking of driving it to work tomorrow as one of my co-workers has an OBD reader.
Second question: Can a body shop be trusted to fix / replace the evap / fuel lines?

I agree dude.
Any special tips for getting the JDM rear with the least resistance possible? There is a local guy who gets them brand new, but I'm wondering what the adjuster / body shop will say about this? I think I'd also have to buy a crash beam? I was thinking I'd go with the STM beam which is $300..
It looks like I'm going to end up going through the woman's insurance (State Farm), but I'm nervous that they won't just cut me a check like Geico will. With Geico it seems like it would be easier to get the JDM rear.
you need to take direction on whatever insurance company is going to be the lead to getting it fixed then it usually comes down to the body shop and the discussion you have with them when they get the ok to fix it.....like ok its coming to you guys, then you ask what's the process if you want a different bumper, do I have to source it myself or can you cut me the difference and I pay the cash to you guys direct. Make sure fuel line damage is included under insurance then talk to body shop and ask if they have a mechanic that does repairs on this type of thing and understands evo workings etc they may say yeh we can take it to this shop to cover that etc....just stay on it and stay involved
sad indeed, some dude from florida rear ended me in my lancer and damaged my bumper too.. he was at fault cause he didnt yeild to a ambulance and i did and i got creamed.... i hope the ladys insur will cover your car to fix whatever is broken....
I just went to the body shop to pick up some more stuff out of my car, and the owner showed me the damage inside my trunk. The floor of the trunk is pushed in... He says he will probably have to replace it...
I want to cry The car only has 46k miles on it and it will probably never drive the same
That all can be fixed don't freak out. Modern frame machines are digital and use specs supplied by the factory to realign. Glad your ok. Maybe this is a sign to go by a final edition haha

That makes me feel better
I went to this shop because a member on here, 4RETECH (the guy with the 300,000k+ mile evo), recommended it. The owner's son actually has a few evos, a GTR, a RHD skyline. The shop owner said he told his son about my car, and the son said he wanted to buy my car
