Front Bumper Bolts Broke -- Help!

Hey Everyone!

So this actually happened awhile ago, just haven't gotten around to making a post -- So, when i was un-tightening the front bumper bolts (to take off my front bumper to install a LICP), the head of the bolt completely snapped off... So, now the rest of the bolt is stuck in the hole in the front core support -- I have tried getting it out with drill bits and tap sets, but the either don't work or keep breaking... I temporally have my bumper held up with zip ties... Does anyone have a suggestion or a way to get this stubborn bolt out? Thanks.

Happened to me before. I drilled them out and then purchased some rivnuts. Installed them, problems.

How did you drill them out / what did you use? I have literally tried 2 packs of extraction drills and many different bits.... But the either don't work or break..

So when you are using the ez out kit, after drilling the hole put the ez out into it and kind of smack it in the hole with a hammer. It's hard for it to get a good grip just turning it, so forcing it in will let it tighten up and get a solid grip.

Then make sure you're using quick bursts of force at first to break it loose instead of slowly turning, going slow the ez out will slip.

I hate ez outs. They never work. I have tried and failed many times. I purchased a drill out power extractor kit....i think it was called. It's one bit for the specific size bolt and it was like 15 bucks but it worked like a charm. Its just like an ez out but it wasn't flimsy like other kits I used.

Yeah, break off an EZ Out and you've made a small mess into a big one. I used one once to remove a broken spark plug but for most things I'd avoid them.

I recently had to train myself on how to sharpen drill bits. Drilling into hardened steel can dull a bit in as little as five seconds. Bits are long so that they can be sharpened many times.

One of the things I love about my now 14 year old Evo is the almost the total absence of thread locker on fasteners (two exceptions are seats and door latches). Thread Locker - the modern replacement for engineering.
