gas door broke broke
well a few weeks ago i noticed as i tried to fuel my evo up that the door wont open all of a sudden, it appears that something broke which is why i cant open it by myself i can however with another person with me or asking a stranger to pull my gas door switch in the car. my question is.. can this be fixed without taking a ride to the stealership to buy a cheap piece of plastic for 20 or 30 dollars? thanks for any info
That's sounds like my CF trunk...chances are the cable that pops the latch isn't being pulled taut enough to fully open the door. I'm not exactly sure where the cable runs though so I can't help you there.
An easier solution would probably be to bend the tab on the actual door itself that connects to the latch. If you open the door all the way, I would imagine that if you bent that tab inwards (towards the car), it would open much more easily. Really hard to explain it...I'll get some pics for you in a bit if you don't understand what I'm saying

same thing happened to me, i had a habbit of slamming it **** and one day the little "spring" clip broke. i had to wedge something under the release to open the door.
