Fuel Pump wally255
Stock turbo

Car was roadtuned at 1.5bar of boost with 93oct fuel. VD showed about 295whp. Accurate or nah?
Anything else I can add besides Cams and a bigger turbo to get higher whp while not pushing the limits?

Thanks guys
Better tuner maybe!? I make more with less mods than u I think.

Alright, looking for some opinions here on what may be possible for my Evo 8 to make for power.

Currently it has the following setup:
Buschur 2.0L Block w/10:1 compression
Curt Brown ported and polished head
Buschur baffled oil pan
Supertech 1mm oversized valves
Supertech springs and retainers
Kelford 272 cams
Buschur ported and polished intake manifold
Buschur ported, polished, and coated exhaust manifold
FP Red dual bb turbo with ported, polished and coated MHI housing
FP intake with cone filter
ETS short route upper and lower intercooler piping
Tial QR bpv
ETS 3.5" fmic
Spoolin' Up cop
FIC 1650 High-Z injectors
Walbro 450 fuel pump
Grimmspeed 3-port ebc
Megan stainless O2 housing
Megan 3" downpipe
Test pipe
Buschur bullet catback exhaust
Fueled on e85
Last time on the dyno it made 407whp on a Dyno Dynamics dyno @ 30psi but we cut the tuning section short since it was smoking after WOT(likely valve seals, I think). I know Dyno Dynamics dynos read lower, but doesn't 407 seem low for 30psi or am I wrong? Where might the top end of this build be?

How much are you planning to boost?
And be careful with Kelford cams. I know someone who's intake cam snapped in two. Bent all his intake valves.

How ever much it takes brotha! Kelford revised those cams back in 2012. So those people experiencing those snapped cams have the older versions. As far as the boost goes...I’m trying to get as much boost as I can and be able to daily drive it.

My best guess is that your limiting factor is your fuel pump. Your turbo needs a double pumper to utilize its potentials on E85. I didn't see if you have rewired the power and ground to your fuel pump, but if not, then your pump will be about the same as AEM 320lph pump at 13.5V. Your huge injectors will help but if you have stock wiring, your pump is getting between 11V and 12V. You will make more on race gas since E85 requires 30% more fuel than gasoline. Assuming you limit boost 40 psi, last chart shows about 500 whp on E85. If you have a rewired fuel pump to get you 13.5V under demand, my guess is 550 whp. If your tuner pushes the limits, maybe they can squeeze an extra 50 whp out on E85. I suggest increasing fuel pump capacity before tuning.

Considering your on a stock block, your turbo won't be very fun to drive. It's too big and laggy to drive on street and once power kicks in, your engine will be maxed out. Your tuner will have to limit the torque to 400 ft-lbs, which will limit your hp. Personally, I would limit whp to 550 (and torque to 400) to help engine live longer.

Good luck and keep us posted on your results!

2003 evo 8 56,000 going to have the timing belt/pulleys/tensioner done before the tune as well. I am not sure if that has any effect on the car I doubt it but I figured I threw it in the post.

JM fab intake pipe with K&N cone filter
STM UICP and LICP
ETS 3.5 Inch intercooler
Grimmspeed EBC
DC Sports downpipe with cat delete
Greedy TI-C catback
walbro 255 fuel pump
Evo 9 bov

How much power will I be putting down? Asking out of curiosity because I found this thread

I have been building my car for years now. Between lack of funds, stuff breaking and life it hasnt gotten finished. But I am at the point to where after the rewire it will be able to run reliably. So of course I was wondering how much power will it make? Its also in a 2000 Galant, this is the break in setup. Plans for more injector, turbo, and cams are for when I AWD swap the car.

Self Built 2.4l
Wiseco pistons. Comp ratio of 9.7:1
Manley rods
Acl bearings
Balance Shaft Delete
Ported head
GSC Valve Springs
ARP Studs on everything
Stock evo 8 cams
ported evo 8 10.5t hotside with kinugawa 20g compressor and wheel
AMS/PTE 880cc injectors
Stock ignition

Which turbo? If you have IX turbo, you could be in 340whp on 91 and 410whp on E85 give or take 20whp. I'm assuming you have stock injectors and cams.

By self built, did you use a machine shop for bore and hone? Or did you simply run honing ***** with a drill and then installed pistons? Did you check piston to wall clearances? Individual measure and cut each piston ring to spec for each cylinder? Balance crankshaft and rods? Micropolish crank journals?
If engine is built right, you should be around 500whp. If you didn't use a machine shop, I'd stay in 400whp range and stay under 7000 rpm. Either way, power should be great for the street and with your turbo, it probably start losing power over 6,000rpm. What is your plan for the turbo upgrade?
