Evo VIII vs Evo IX with dyno graphs!
Its everything on the IX motor that adds to the amount of power it makes over the VIII.
-Compressor Housiing
-Mivec
-Cooling
-More boost/Same gas
He will make more power than you. Youll need to add cams to be close. An upgraded turbo and you'll pull ahead

Are you sure it's not because of the Turbo? I know that both the VIII and IX has a TD05-16G but the IX has a bigger compressor housing.
Not trying to start an argument, but since you said that the IX runs on a more aggresive cams, do you happen to know what's the spec on both the VIII and IX cams?

In the USDM all Evos of the same model year make the same power. An '05 VIII MR makes the sme power as the '05 VIII RS and '05 VIII GSR. Same turbo. Same engine. Same tune. Does Australia get a more powerfull powerplant in their MR?

I got my results today. at 21 psi on 91 pump gas i made 300 lb ft of torque and 305.1 whp, when i did a 50/50 mix with 104 octane (equaling about 98 octane) i made 325 whp and 310 ft lbs on 21 psi by just advancing timing. i am guessing my friends evo ix will make my 99 octane number on pump. i will post graphs when i get a scanner later tonight.
Pretty cool comparison project, but if you want to see the real difference between the IX and the VIII, shouldn't we be using stock vs stock, or at least the same after-market mods on each. This would show the true difference between the 2.

i don't have my IX dyno charts but they are consideratly different than yours.
Power is smooth as a butt and doesn't drop...just continues until redline.
306hp at around 7000rpm.
I had peak torque about 3700rpm and it declined at a very gradual slope. Not nearly as dramatic as yours.

in two weeks I will dyno my new IX. And same day after it will receive JIC Magic TBE with Racing O2 housing. Cosworth cams, fuel pump, AVCR, HKS racing sucktion, new injectors. And will see what it will dyno then
I am just waiting to brake it in first.
So I will post some dyno pics.

98 oct pull.
325whp peak@5200 rpms and nose dives to around 260whp by 6800 rpms.
Not very familiar with Dynapack, but that's a 65whp drop in less than a 2k rpm range.
What is your boost reading at 7000rpm's?
Plan on getting cams?

here is my torque graph kinda hard to tell whats going on but just divide the numbers by the ratio of 4.532 and you will get my torque numbers.
