2.0 L 152 HP ...good enough?

hey whats up lancer 08 owners im a noob here lol just registered..

I'll be (hopefully) picking up my white lancer '08 GTS with sun&sound next friday!!! its my second car (i was driving a 99 dodge caravan be4 boooo lol ) .

The car has awesome interior & exterior styling and technology ... but what about the power?
Do you guys find it fun to drive? Whats is it's 0-60 mph time?

I'm affraid 152 hp might be not even enough to get you out of trouble sometimes , i even heard you it can get outraced by some minivans!!

what do u guys think?

Thanks - Alex

I love mine. It's not as quick as my last car, but the power is definitely enough to get you moving and keep you there. Keep in mind that due to the very wide powerband (especially for a 4 cyl) it doesn't "feel" as quick as it really is. But for me personally the power is pretty spot on. Don't have any times for you though, I've only had mine 5 days.

BAHAHAHA... seriously though, you will find it pretty peppy when you manage the shifting. In automatic/drive it's pretty blah, especially from a stop (and in fact, if you need to get out from the stop in say a turn situation where there is a space but not much to get turned into and up to speed you definately need to consider managing the shifting yourself). However, when you are managing the shifting it's pretty peppy. I haven't gotten used to the exact points yet, but so far 1, 2, and 3 work best in the upper mid range of RPM and I seem to get the best out of the car around 4400 or so... if I nail it just right I can chirp the tires in fact, not bad for a 2.0 152hp plant.

It's no rocket, but if you want some launch and pickup the manual is the way to go. I can't wait to get a CAI and exhaust on this thing though... another 10 - 15HP at least would make a HUGE difference I think.

Just test drive it for yourself. I was very suprised on the quickness, how fast I got to 100mph and about the 3500-4000k when the mivec kicks in

It depends on you. I know for a fact that it wouldn't be enough HP for me. I'm driving a car with 165hp (stock) and working on a turbo kit.

I like it, but heck, I was driving a 98 Tercel before buying my GTS... I guess some improvements wouldn't hurt though

i'd say 152hp is quite low, but i definitely think that with a few mods, you will feel a huge difference and greater performance. `08 lancers have potential

ok thanks alot guys for all the comments.
seems like its not that slow its just OK but yeah as GNNR said 15 extra horses would give much more confidence on the road.
Do you guys know how much that would cost (for CAI or exhaust) ?

What is the curb weight of the new lancer? If the car is 153hp and 3200 lbs, then I would say that weight is holding it back.

Curb weight of the GTS is 3064 I believe. Between 3000 and 3100.

Isn't the new evo using the same engine as the new lancer? I believe so...
