I have the RRM Stage 2 turbo setup and its making crazy noises so all of this winter i may build my motor so i can boost more and rebuild my turbo.

I was looking around and found this

Would it be possible to use the rrm turbo and then a turbo like this for a twin turbo?
Any idea?
Any one know anything about these turbo set ups?

 

Is that the turbo that goes directly on the exhaust pipe?

 

thats just stuppid... what you need to do is buy a better turbo... a gt28 or something ball bearing..

i have a friend here runing a gt28 bb on 12psi stock internals... tuned with aem fic-6

but you could tune with an evo 8 ecu

 

It seems to me that it would be worth considering saving up money for a nice condition used Evo VIII since there have been numerous ones in the $16-18K range instead of spending a few grand to turbo a lancer

 

the installed pic on ebay is a remote mounted turbo. Twin turbo on a lancer would be useless. It doesn't displace enough air to spool up 2 seperate turbos fast enough to be worth it unless you found some tiny little baby turbos. Sequential turbos is what I think you mean, where a small turbo spools up first to get the car going and spool up a much bigger turbo faster than the car would by itself. But still that would be a lot of extra weight and is used more for much higher HP cars. I don't think the Lancer, even fully built, would stand enough power to be worth going that direction.

 

^^ id have to disagree.. ive passed the idea around 20+ times over the past 8 years..
300hp range is very doable with our cars. and building our motors doesnt cost to terribly much, and when we break stuff, its only a few hundred vs an evo is a few thousand in parts to replace..

120k miles, of 100% abuse out of my driving it.. and its lasted very well..

i like my 200$ motors, and 150$ trans.. i might not run a 11second pass at lower boost levels, but when i blew up my stock motor its only down for 2 days and only costs me 200$ i dont have a 2000$ motors or trans or transfercase and whatever else thats known for going out on abused evos.

my cars paid off, and has been for 5 years now.. im sure that has alot to do with my desision to keep it, i wouldnt be able to do half the things i would want to do to an evo if i still had a big car payment.. my new DD i got yesturday, 09 chevy 2500hd crew cab.. now when i break my car at an event i have a way to get her home and a car to still drive when im working on it..
everyones financial issues are different. i make really good money, and ive had to pay for everything myself, and im still in college.. nothings really easy, but im glad i never upgraded to an evo, i wouldnt have had the money to spend on all the mods that have expanded my knownledge on cars like they have. once this truck is paid off there is no telling what my next toy or dd will be.

 

i disagree, twin turbo can be done, sequential would be pointless on our cars, we are limited on space to mount them both, but its do- able. twin 16gs would spool and so would t25s and also ko3s.. all considerably small turbos that would all still spool decent.
wouldnt serve much purpose other then to show off, u could acheive better results with a single turbo.

 

No, even with small turbos, its terrible. You cant spool up a turbo with only 2 exh pulses.

 

Didn't say it wouldn't work, just pointless because of how little air would be flowing through each turbo.

 

Why would you want a twin turbo setup on a small displacement, inline 4-banger? The only way you could have a true twin setup is with two turbos feeding two separate intake systems, which would cost a small fortune to make. Hell, even on a horizontally opposed motor (where there are already two exhaust banks), it's a waste of money. If you have extra money lying around, put it towards a faster stock car. I'm willing to bet that an 11 second Evo is more reliable than a 13 second Lancer. Why? It was designed from the factory to be abused.

 

Could get 4 really small motorcycle turbos and put a turbo on each exhaust port. A guy wanted me to do that on his scion. I would have done it (because he was paying me) but he ran out of money.

do the STS turbo setup and then tell us if it works ;-)... looks pretty legit... but i wonder how it will work on a lancer?
