I just ordered an hks ssqv bov form ulitimate racing and recently purchased the recirculating fit. According to your notes, the car still appears to be bogging when the bov vents despite recirculating the vent air back into the intake. Is the bog terribly noticable? and do you notice any loss in performance? Finally whe the bov vents, is the wooooosh sound audible? like those bov's that vent directly to air?
thanks

Seat dyno noticed not only an improvement of maintaining acceleration through gear shifts under power (main reason why we get BOV, right?) but from about 2100RPM as well... probably due to better sealing. Still same crappy acceleration from anything under 1700 RPM, but that's to be expected.
When recircing, you hear almost no noise when venting. Maybe if you listen really hard and get the sound to reflect off a jersey barrier or building or something. I should probably have a friend stand on the sidewalk and vent as I go by him. While stopped I did rev it with the airbox cover off and the air filter out and noticed venting (PSSSH-SHT-SHT-SHt-SHt-Sht-Sht-sht-sht) haha. Cool sound if you're into hearing BOV venting. On a side note my guess is that if you put on an intake like the one Buschur offers you're gonna hear the venting and hear it well.
I should mention that if I wanted to VTA I'm not sure how I'd secure the BOV since the intake (in to BOV) hose lets it move around a lot (the BOV out fitment/tube is solid on the turbo intake). VTA applications may require a flange on the engine intake pipe.
Thanks for the questions. You gave me the idea to maybe record some sound clips... will try to do that this weekend.

Boost and Vacuum meters are on the way. Thinking of rigging a light to indicate release. Thoughts? Suggestions?
The car is perfect when accelerating, slowing, and idling. Maintaining speed is where the wierdness is.

that was a heavy duty write up man...
i'm kinda lost when it comes to modding and tuning a turboed car... why do you want this BOV...? what is it doing for you that the factory unit did not...?

Thoeretically when you VTA you're releasing air that's been measured already, which would put your intake in a rich condition until the BOV sealed back up again. Since lifting the throttle means you don't want power that point is academic if you ask me. But it is wasting fuel and making your cat work a tad harder (cleaning a rich exhaust mix). Thoeretically speaking. I have no A/F numbers nor EGT numbers to back this up at all.
Think about this as well: Since compressing air creates heat it's expansion is actually a cooling process. Now this is good for the intake tract VTA'ing or recircing but if you're recircing you're cooling the intake before the turbo too... and perhaps spinning the compressor a little bit more. Again this is pure speculation.
You decide. It seems the engine works just fine either way.
