One sweet car
can anyone confirm how they are making these legal? i sent an email and they have not got back to me...
if they pull this off, i will have to take a serious look at getting one of these. i am a year out from having the $$ (going to school), and by then there will be many more cars to choose from, 2 being the evo 8 and the sti. i had a wrx, and loved it, and really want the raw speed feeling back. my current S4 is just too numb...
anyway, anone have any info about how they are getting these through cali smog ???

I have a question for the guys who own the EVO VII's. How much hp/tq can the VII's be modified to?
I saw on the EI website they have a performance upgrade but no where did they have a turbo upgrade, my assumption is that a turbo upgrade would be the best choice for more power, maybe I'm wrong.
Whats the most power these cars can make? How much work is necessary to acheive that power?
Thanks in advance,
TGZ

The turbo upgrades start to make sense above 370 HP. For several reasons complete turbo upgrades are rather expensive for Evos. The stock turbo performs pretty well too. I am looking for 330 to 350 hp and a good responsive low end. I am not too concerned about the maximum power number. The only turbo upgrade that I may do is a ball-bearing cartridge upgrade to the stock turbo.

I think I would change internals. If I wanted to get to 400 BHP on a daily driver I would look at the stroker kits out there. Here in the states with our gas it makes even more sense.
Check out the project stroker at Xtreme UK 358 bhp @ 5,000 RPM and 428 ft/lbs torque @ 3,500 RPM at 1.5 Bar. With essentially none of the usual modifications just the motec800 and the 2.3 stroker kit. I think if you plan ahead you can save some money. You will have a GEMS ECU anyway. Just go with a very high flow exhaust and intake so that you will not need to upgrade it again later.

Thats the power I'm looking for with my mods. They are not the same as the packages listed on the EI site. Adam has been very good about letting do what you want.

yellow and blue are also my favorite colors
hopefully i will be in a position to buy one in a couple years
In case you guys haven't seen, Evolution Imports is no longer selling the Evo VII at $36,500. New price is $39,900 which includes a few little extras.
I'm afraid to see what they'll be charging for JDM Evo 8 once that's out, though I do appreciate them giving us a chance to own a true Evo.

So, after all this has anyone actualy got one of these evo 7's in their garage yet? Titled, registered in their state.
