but i see your point , they want to make more money then they already do , so why not add more advertising. makes sense. but to do so in every post that has a key word is a little extreme / desperate. i thought evom had more class than lower themselves to this kind of money making scheme

Did they go away already? I tried in IE and Mozilla. I use Mozilla for my main Browser but also opened IE afer i read this and I don't see them. Those things are all over another site i go to... anandtech.com
Basically one of the most annoying things on the Net. Some sites are REALLY bad because they have them set to stay open for like 5 seconds. Wouldn't be as bad if they just disappeared after your cursor left but the damn things stay open for what seems like forever. Major suck-a-tude.

Yeah stickying this would contradict the direction of the site, and I'm sure the mods covet their titles. It'll keep getting bumped. At least these mini-dialogues within this how-to will ensure it Anyways, I don't have them anymore on my IE browser, so I'm chill.

Well the reverse will happen for them. More people ticked off, they'll switch to another forum with less advertising. They'll have less viewers, so sponsorship price will fall, cutting in to over head, so they'll make up for it with more advertising, and there's a vicious cycle. You have to take care of your customers first. Being the sponsors are the customers and they are getting screwed coming and going. Maybe they'll re-consider. Just make sure your favorite sponsor knows the implications of evoM continuing on this path.

i like the idea of a paid membership , but not as a point to kill advertisments. a membership to elevate us evo owners to a closer group. membership that allows us to access certain sections not allowed to nonmembers. something like www.lancerregister.com does. examples: yearly calendars / discounts / meetings and even some other beneifits not yet explored. you get the idea.

evom is a good website which has lots of potentional for great things. doing the advertiving in each post was a step back or down imo

I agree with you! It would also weed out undesireable members.

My main point is that because your initial membership to evolutionm.net is "free" you are showing your support by being here and being a member. Now evolutionm.net will use its numbers (number of members and visitors) to sell its advertising (in order to continue free memberships). You have to give in one area or another.

If evolutionm.net was all about the money, they would charge everyone a membership and allow advertising, but then they may see a drop in the number of members and visitors, which would ultimately deter potential vendors, advertisers, etc. from paying for advertising which would not produce desired results.

I can tell you that on the dealership level (being one of the first if not the only {to my knowledge} dealership to become a vendor) that I have already seen the benefit of paying to be a vendor in 1.5 months (when I joined).

I think this is a great community with incredible potential, but there has to be tolerance to advertising in order for evolutionm.net to continue to offer their services for "free". Next time you see a vendor thank them for their support and pat yourselves (members) on the backs because without everyone the whole deal would go south, thus no more evolutionm.net.

Thanks,

P.S. Bump for burningmoney!

I see your point and respect your position!

Look at it this way!

I start a new forum joeblow.net at first I invest my own money to keep it up and operating. As more and more members arrive, I have to invest in more and more technology and equipment to keep my forum (or website) alive. What do I do?

If I charge for a membership Im screwed because then I loose at least 65% of my members (could be more like 85%). There are too many variables to be 100% accurate on the percentage, but allow me to guesstimate! What do I do?

I start offering banner ads and some vendor accounts to help me with my overhead expenses and so that I can keep up with the current technology. As my forum grows I am forced to spend more and more money each and every month. I have to allow advertising or make my members (customers) pay!

I think you should thank evolutionm.net for not asking you to pay a membership!

Just my opinion!

Best regards,

P.S.

Competition between vendors is not always bad! Sometimes it even brings competitors together and they find ways to work with one another and share in the profits!

Not to mention it keeps vendors honest, fair, and reasonable with their prices; thus saving you (the potential customer) money! That ='s more $ for your mods!

Just a thought!

You guys are way off. We're not asking Evom to stop advertising... We're asking not to use that kind of advertisement... Ads in every single post, and every 2-3 word is more than annoying. There are plenty of ways for them to make money other than KeyWord Advertisement.

Ok, you are right! Maybe I took it to an extreme!

Let me ask you this, how much do you think that type of advertising costs?

Best regards,

Best regards,
How much does it cost or how much does it generates. I have no clue what it kind of profits it generates... but I know it costs users.

It must generate astronomical profit (for how annoying it is)! The profit that I speak of is to evolutionm.net! Once again, let me restate the fact that your membership is free! They have the right to allow this type of advertising!

I may not agree with it either, but it is fair and the facts!

Want an example of overhead expenses?

Check this out! This is what I am talking about! We complain (about our free membership) and they still respond. Thank you vendors of the evolutionm.net world. We appreciate your advertising and support.
