If you don't like the rules here, stop logging in. We have plenty of members that accept the rules and live by them.

There seems to be a lot of suggestions and implications that mods should be selected 'by the community' in some way or another and that members should be empowered some how to control the direction and running of this forum.
Although this may sound appealing, it will never work. First of all, it's not possible for everyone to know everyone here. At least not to a degree sufficient for any kind of electorial process for moderators or whether. On matters such as closing/deleting threads and such, open debates or votes would probably draw attention to threads/posts that are more than likely unsuitable in some way.
And in any case there is little need for such a process. We signed up for this voluntarily and do not pay directly for anything we gain from here. We browse through the forum as and when we please and have no particular attachement to it. The only thing we have to do is repsect its rules and policies. Sure enough, vendors who advertise on this forum must generate sales from it (otherwise no-one would advertise here) but again, the purchases are voluntary and at least members can benefit form advice and experiences of other members which may prevent them from buying bad/underperforming/ill fitting products and at the same time become more educated about their cars. So I think on average, we get a lot for very little.
Moderators, like members, must follow a set of rules. These rules are not like laws and their applications are very much open to the discretion of the mods responsible (as fas as I'm aware). It is therefore correct that current mods should be the ones who select new mods in order to ensure that the new mods interpret and apply the rules in ways consistent and in accordance to the purpose and intentions of the forum's owners and sponsors and most of all the current mods. Certainly there will be times when what they do may not be most appropriate, but there is a way to complain/appeal in such cases. Mods are people and plainly people make mistakes and misinterpret things. I doubt it's personal in most cases and more likely than not, the only thing that's damaged is pride. Hopefully we can all be mature enough to absorb such things and get on with our lives.
In a subtle way, members already do control the direction which the forum takes. If no one logs on, then there's little purpose to evom. If everyone gets all personal/argumentative/plain stupid/ immature then the forum becomes terrible and no use to anyone. If everyones helpful, open minded and sincere then the forum improcves and becomes better for everybody - and there won't need to be threads like this one.

hmmm, because it doens't matter?? just for the record, i think that 80% of the mods here don't drive mitsu and i know for a fact that 90% of the mods on the subaru forums don't drive a subaru. if i owned an evo, would i be a nicer person or less of a *****?

Ok, that was kind of a stupid post.........
I look at it like this. There are some aspects of the way this site is operated that we all might not agree with. Hell, I don't agree with everything and I’m sure at one point or another...all the mods and members questioned some action or actions taken within this site..............
But keep in mind. For each and every member who posts and belongs to this forum...we all checked the little box upon registration that stated, "I agree to the forum rules and regulations.".............So with that in mind.... for the people who come on here and b_tch constantly (Yes, I’m somewhat of a hypocrite, but trying to grow up) about the rules and regulations...stop. Technically you are going against the agreement you made when you joined this forum. So for you to act so surprised when something you posted or wrote is deleted...is ridiculous.... cause if you read the initial rules of the forum of which you agreed to, we wouldn't be having all of these issues.
No, we can't talk about street racing, we can't post up street racing videos, and no, we can't bash each other like children.........some agree with these rules, some don't.... but either way, we all agreed to them in the beginning. So if you don't like it...leave.
My suggestion is that everyone have a coke and a smile............. you know the rest.
Lets get back to talking about Cars and parts and boobies...rather than this bulls_it.

Lame
Spare me computerguy, RobertK was not making a personal attack. He was just being a master of the obvious. It takes years to built a successful enthusiast community like EvoM. Any lay person can figure out VBulletin to create an online forum.
For the record, I am another moderator who does not currently own an Evo.
