Absolutely not. It's a free community. LOTS of people read a ton without saying a single thing. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I was also under the impression that not all posts in all sections count towards your post count at this point any longer either, which is infinitely more stupid, IMO.

To the mention of using ebay instead... You're just as unlikely to buy from that same untrustworth ebay seller as you would directly through the forums.

I don't post alot hell I've been apart of dsmtuners.com since 03 and only have 250 post and I visit that site everyday. theres some post that just are over my head or I don't want to post because it's just a stupid question. I never create a thread unless absolutely needed. but 100 post I can probably swing that real quick if I wanted to just ***** the forum..... so you guys need to think real hard, those who really want to just buy things will just ***** the forums quick for 100 post. I try my hardest not to ***** and actually post usefull information, the site will more then likely see an increase in whoring if it is increased.

I didn't vote because I only have 9 post as of now so I don't want to be counted since I'm not a productive member yet.

I voted no for this reason. I've been on here over a year and just today hit 50 posts. Several months ago I was looking to buy an EVO, and while PMing the people wasn't bad it would have been nice to be able to at least post in a few threads there.

Now that I have an EVO I've got some spare rims I wanted to sell, and until today I wasn't able to post them up

I think it needs to stay or lowered if it is raised then we will see a lot more crap post on here and there is already plenty of that. We just need to promote a way off stopping the people from posting to reach the 50 mark (lower it to 25). I remember when I first joined one of the things that brought me here was the for sale section and not being able to use it is very upsetting I would say to lower it won’t hurt anything no matter what the count is there is always a possibility of scams so what’s the worst that can happen if we all just take the proper precautions and promote the use of PayPal and hope for the best I am sure we will see a lot less useless post on here

Makes no difference; your as likely to ripped off by someone with 100 posts vs. 50.

The two times I was ripped off were from members that had well over 300 posts, so go figure. I've had great exchanges with members that have had less than 100 posts many times....

I'm not a fan of the 100 post idea. I have been a member for awhile, I just don't post "sweet" everytime I see a sweet car in the show and shine.

Some random thoughts from me, someone whose been here for 5 years and has 30 posts:

1) Like a lot of people here, I use search, so my post count is low... and I'm damn proud of it.

2) To say that because I don't have a lot of posts, I'm not "part of the community" or "don't support the site" is not true IMHO. I buy from vendors, I go to evo meets, etc etc... What I don't do is re-explain stuff that's already been said a few times in the thread one someone asks for help.

3) Rules are rules. Sometimes they benefit you, sometimes they don't. Thus is life, deal with it.

4) I can understand not allowing me to sell stuff, but I think it's weird that I can't ask a question to a vendor in their for-sale thread. I just used PM, so whatever, but I still think it's weird.

5) I also think it's weird I can't give stuff away. I had some stuff to give away (evo 8 wing, euro badging, etc). I ended up just giving it away on socalevo, so no big deal... I tend to keep everything anyways, until I sell the car...

6) At my current rate, it'll be about 3.3 years before I can sell. Sweet. Might have something to sell by then.

Anyways, I say if 50 is working, keep it. If it isn't, move it to 100. Is 50 working? Only the mods can say.

I vote "No" because there are already too many junk posts by members trying to reach the current requirement of 50. Raising the count to 100 would just make the situation worse. I'm actually in favour of removing the minimum post count completely. If someone has an item which may be of interest to someone on the site, I say let them post.

Another idea would be to just restrict the number of posts a member can make in the for sale section until a certain post count is reached to limit abuse of the system.

Wouldn't it be easier to just close the site to new members altogether? I mean really, isn't that the goal--keep everyone away and make it such a pain in the *** that NO ONE will have the patience to deal with it any more and will just.....go somewhere else.

50 legitimate posts are really that hard to achieve? I think not. Spamming to 50 with nonsense posts will be spotted and dealt with. We are not here to keep people away but to welcome new member that uphold our values as a site.

You are completely misinterpreting the rule.

The rule does NOT stop people from becoming new members.

Why do you believe it does

It didn't stop any of the new members that joined today. And it won't stop the new people who join tomorrow.

But, what it is designed to do is deter scammers.

I just got my 50 posts in and have been a member for 2 yrs. I had to post ***** on some to get my 50 as I want to be able to post on the marketplace ( not just selling stuff)and have bought stuff from the community in the past 2 yrs and never been screwed over.
If you change the posts to 100 does that mean that the ones who just got the 50 posts will lose our posting abiliities?
