New Set Up

I bragged that this web fourm was the best most professional one I have ever seen.
I am not an expert, but why change what "everyone" agreed was the very best?
Please consider the original site format.

While I liked the old format, it was far from "the best" and had some glaring deficiencies. VB3 is a very good base to work from; in a month after all the bugs are worked out and Mark (and others) have time to work on the base templates and hacks, the new evoM will be much nicer than the old, from both a user standpoint and an admin standpoint. It takes time - the last site I was on the switched to VB3 (about a month ago) had 2 days of downtime and took about a week of constant tweaking to smooth out, and that was upgrading from a bone-stock VB2.

I have too little experence with sites of this type.

I am new to the web & only have 10 months of computer use under my belt.

I was comfortable with the original site and was speaking from that veiw point.

The way to go I belive is for me to wait 30 to 60 days before returning to the site
and check it out in it's finished form, that seems fair.

yea, i dont like it sorry, thats as constructive as i can get

basically, when you change a website design, you need to weigh in well, what is better than the last version, and what is worse, i honestly don't see ANYTHIGN that is better than the last version other than this version seems to load a teeny bit faster

when i first went to the homepage i thought my video card was messed up or i had missed an update, the page doesn't look right, start working on a new version please

Funny but I find myself surfing here less since the change of looks.
Being in IT business for 10 years I think that saying "Don't fix what works" is worth gold.

Like in my company where they wouldn't listen and added some patches to our Solaris NIS+ enviroment and ever since it doesn't work right...
Obviously we don't appreciate something that doesn't work for us no matter how much time Mark put in it.
You can consider us as customers - we don't like it - we take our business elsewhere
I'm willing to give Mark a chance but I'll still hold on to the saying above.

its starting to look a little better today. mark fixed the floating ad at the top, and balanced the page better. now where is our user control panel, photo gallery and such, and is the darn clock right yet?

one cool feature i REALLY LIKE is the hybrid thread view selection at the top. that way you can easily see all the replies and intros. also, the hover preview in the forums home is cool too.

i didn't like how it started, but i like where its going. i guess since mark didn't want to close the site for a long time and do everything at once we'll have to stick out the debugging, and help as much as we can along the way.

overall, i like the possibilities.

another thing you should change (if not already planned)

under the screenname it says "registered user". if you can only post if you're registered, and we all are, then isn't that kinda pointless? you should make another title system like the old one, but with more tiers (like 5 or so), and no references to the old one. for example:
0-20 posts = learner's permit
20-100 = provisional license
100-500 = weekend autocross
500+ = world rally class

or something fun and creative along those lines.

I'll work on getting the title setup again. I think it may be disabled, but I should be able to find out shortly. The new control panel is much larger, so I'm still trying to figure out where everything is

The new front page layout it up now and should flow a lot better. We're getting there.

Also, the database server was having issues and caused a lot of the slowness for today. Things should get quicker at this point.

As for the large font issue, is this the old username being big or also the post font sizes? I believe they're actually the same size as the old boards.

The new site is to the old site what the Pontiac Vibe is to the Toyota Matrix. This site feels like a bad characture of the old one.

I know you want specifics, but it is the overall look and feel that is off. The old site felt professional and fast. This one feels like a truck. I also own a International Scout and the Scout site looks like this. It worked OK for a redneck truck, but it doesn't fit for a site dedicated to a HP car like the EVO.

Couple things:

Make the pictures viewable without clicking
Quit wasting screen real estate
Can we make it so that we can delete a post instead of just editing the crap out of it?

But then again, this is coming from a guy that prefers the Audiworld.com format to this clusterfunk

It's best to leave that to the Moderators. We've had instances where certain members would "cover their tracks" from us, thus preventing us to determine what happend in a particular situation.
