Sorry, not really crabbing, just trying to get used to it and make some general suggestions. Keep up the good work!!
I hate sounding like an ******* (ok...no I don't), but did you not read that Mark has yet to fully implement everything? The post status will probably return, and hopefully mark will implement a new tier status that includes more than just newbie, evolving and evolved. Maybe he'll even include OT posts as well (hint hint). I don't like the new layout, but after being told this is probably going to be temporary, I feel better now. I do miss some of the features we had in the old layout, but they're things mark can easily reimplement.

Please keep your comments constructive and away from the "THIS SUCKS! I HATE THIS!" without backing your comments up with some sort of substance first.

New site! Like it? Hate it? Tell us!

Hi All.

As you have all noticed, the site recently went through a software upgrade (to VB3) and a page style update. What you may not know is that this site, which was formerly running on some rented servers in Texas, is now running on 2 dedicated servers located in the LA area. This is a big change. And I am sure the many vocal members of Evolutionm.net will have something to say about it. So, in an attempt to keep all these opinions in one place, please post your opinions in this thread.

I just ask that if you are going to tell us about something you do not like about the new site(and you are certainly welcome to do so), please be as specific as possible about what you don't like and why you don't like it. General complaints won't lead to specific improvements/changes!

Thanks!

SC~

Took me a while to figure out the quick reply. I like it, especially how you can see the beginning of the thread when you hover over the title.

Some browser biased feedback

I just realised that the issues I was complaining about are only with non-IE browsers. I usually browse this site from my linux box using Opera. With IE the site looks OK and all the links, faunts, and such are aligned and normal. With Opera though it looks real bad. In fact when you try to reply with Opera on linux the imoticons on the right are only half visible; most aren't even available.

With IE it looks fine, but I can't seem to attache any imoticons. Strange.

im not liking the front page, it's too hard to see the "New Discussions" section because now there's like 3 of them. Before it was just 1 column of new discussions. Although the 3 columns may have different topics, it seems a bit much. the front page is kind of dull too, not too much color aside from blue and a little red. there's too much white at the moment and maybe it's because of my high resolution but there's grey area on the side.

the forums are ok tho, im used to it from our MLC forums. i dont like the quick reply feature tho, u have to click on quick reply to actually quick reply..that's not so quick but just tedious.

but we'll see how this turns out! im hoping for the better..

and mitsuorder, i ALSO did not hear about this. i only found out when i tried to get on EvoM and there was a nice message stating how they are undergoing a change.

I dont like how you have to click on something to make this "Quick Reply"

If you go into your profile settings and change to "No Avatars" and "No Signatures" its a bit more bearable...but sucks that I had to turn those off.

Just posted a bunch of stuff in the other thread. Mostly wanted to make you aware that the site no longer works quite right with Opera on Linux. The only things I would say to change is the information under the avatar. The old info was right on track for this forum.

Good luck with the changes!

do we really need 5 threads about this? Sorry but these are getting worse than an evo engine swap into a lancer hahah.

I am starting to get used to it, the thing I dont like is the size. Those of us with smaller monitors need to scroll alot to get around, then when I am at work it looks like a page for the legally blind it is so big. I can read peoples screen names from three offices away.

All in all the speed seems much better and the colors are easier to read so thank you for that.

Where to start?
Issue 1: the site looks a bit underclassman compared to the old site. I would say it's a skinning issue, but it's the overall look. The buttons look oversized, and cartoony. The old layout had a bit of class to it.

Issue 2: The online/offline status was presented perfectly in the old style. Text. I don't like it being represented by pictures. That has just been a personal complaint I've always had with other boards.

Issue 3: The GIANT usernames. They are just way too big. That is all.

Issue 4: Pictures. I spend a lot of time in OT (as if we all didn't know that) where pictures are thrown around like it's nobody's business. I use dial up, but I've never had a problem with slow loading of a page. All the link does for me is make me have to do extra work to load that picture instead of having it done for me.

More issues to come as they present themselves.

Vince mentioned speed. On my dial up, this version of VBB seems slower than the old one.

I'm already annoyed with this "feature". It's something that I'm almost positive you can turn off, and I implore Mark (et al) to do so.

agreed with the points above, the site looked much cleaner before imho, i also don't like the thick bar that separates the posts from each other, a simple line should be enough(like it was before)
