EVOTEXAS, NTEC, and Dynoflash
EVOTEXAS, NTEC, and Dynoflash
Wow, I have read what I have missed while gone. To all who support or understand me, thank you! To those who don't, I understand.
Here is my current position regarding the current situations, arguments, and otherwise. Keep in mind that this is all what I remember reading and I am not posting this seeking responses, arguments, flames, etc. This is just to clear up a few misconceptions that are out there regarding the three titled topics.
First, regarding myself and Dynoflash. Several of the South forum readers appear to believe that I did not pursue resolution through Al before posting and going on a "personal crusade." This is not true. Of course, how could any of you know otherwise considering you do not personally know me. I understand your position.
For clarification, the situation became existent as follows:
I was a fan of Dynoflash in the beginning. I thought that Al's claim and "guarantee" were absolutely the best value on the market. I argued about it with people. When Al came to Dallas for tunes, I even picked him up at the airport and drove him to his hotel in Arlington/Ft.Worth area. I live in The Colony which is a LONG way from there. He tuned my car, and to be honest with you, it didn't look like he did much. I have worked on cars and raced NHRA and IHRA for years. I know the difference. Anyways, I hadn't ever tuned using an ECU so I was willing to give Al the benefit of the doubt. Mostly I felt like a bunch of smoke was being blown up my ***. It was sort of unsettling but I was willing to go with it.
The car was definitely smoother than the STOCK tune which was in it before. As Al has quoted me as saying, the car was an improvement over the stock tune with the mods it had. Of course it was.
Now, I do not drive this car much more than once every one or two weeks. A two week guarantee would be enough for someone who uses it as a daily driver. But that is not a solid excuse for me not taking advantage of the "guarantee." My excuse is that after I kept getting outrun by a car that had half of my mods and I called Al for a solution (not money - I wanted my Dynoflash to work much more than get a refund) he told me my Hallman boost controller (which he recommends) was the problem. I knew this wasn't true just by basic experience. I had called 2 or three times to no avail. The two week limit had passed and I was getting quite turned off. The car didn't seem as "smooth" as it had initially either.
Needless to say, when the time came to pay Al 100 bucks for a reflash for more mods, I had to make a choice. It happened that I was in communication with Mark from TurboTrix and he offered me help. The difference after the TT flash was night and day. The car that was previously outrunning me (a 264 AWHP car) was now sucking wind in my trail (I hit ultimately 296-308 AWHP with a flash change). This sort of evidence kept cropping up with several Dynoflash users in my area and as we all talked about our experience with Al, I found that maybe I should have listened to the naysayers in the beginning. There is no "Al following" in Texas aside from a few in Houston. Al has treated me and many people I know terribley and many others across the country. My "crusade" against Al is not unfounded, just a little louder than some would like. I have no problem with this. With that said, it appears Al is now offering my money back, which, while the money is not a big deal to me, the principle still stands. To truly have a guarantee, you must own up when your claims fail. I will refrain from my proactive behavior if he follows through. However, I will not forgo my values regarding what I feel are purely based on ethics and honesty.
Regarding NTEC, I really don't think an accurate judgement can be passed based purely on a few evom threads. Jason and I have been best friends for a long time and an outsider cannot make any kind of assesment based on inside jokes that really only we understand anyways. They are not real arguments ever between us and are really intended to make people say, "Wha?!?" And you do. These stupid threads have nothing to do with our club and as any of our 50+ and growing members can attest, Jason and I are at LEAST semiprofessional if not completely professional regarding NTEC. Just attend ONE of our meets or especially one of our events. They are successful, well attended, and well structured. Quite frankly, I am proud of NTEC, it's members and what we have in our future. There are some very great things in store and to deprive yourself of them due to some pointless joke threads would be, in my opinion, cutting off your nose to spite your face. Join us sometime and know for sure.
And lastly, regarding myself, I am not here to post pointless things through the forums. Some things I post are a direct result of my personality. Other things I post are useful and helpful. Quite honestly, it depends on the approach the thread starter or other posters are using. I can be sarcastic or serious. I feel that from a technical standpoint I am an asset to this board. I also think that from a personality standpoint, a lot of users are sometimes offended by my personality. Keep in mind that I just might be offended by yours also. You don't hear me complaining. Live and let live guys.

Glad you are back Cody, its all good man
. I know where you are coming from on the Dynoflash thing since we have drank a few beers together...but most on the forums do not, so its good to have this at least on the record. Still, mods own the board so ultimately it is their call.
And about the NTEC thing, hey...if you can't make fun of yourself, who can you make fun of eh?
You guys going to Tyler this weekend?

Though your years of experience do you understand the difference between a custom tune and a base flash?
Is there any dispute that you paid for a base flash $199.99?
Thanks
Cody, good to have you back. Besides...I was getting wore out defending you against the masses. lol
I'm very happy that you started this thread and I truly hope that all that read it will appreciate your honesty and conviction.

When we install a base flash in person, I take the car for a quick test drive to veirfy that the car is not pulling timing (knocking) through my OBDII scan tool. I do NOT hook up my wide band or other gear and make tuning corrections. That would be a "custom tune."

When someone claims "I am blowing smoke up their ***" you can be assured that I will be responding to the accusation with facts
To me it seems that this long winded post filled with negative remarks about me and my product is a far cry from "letting this die"
I really do not desire to contuinue to discuss the same issue over and over and over again with Evotexas, however, so long as he continues to make negative remarks about my prodduct like "blowing smoke up his ***" etc. etc. ; you can be assured that I will be asserting my position about his claims
I posted that he should call me on the phone to resolve his claims and recieve his refund, it seems that he would rather continue his ranting here on the forums about who badly he was screwed by me becuase he made 10 less whp that he should have

Al, would you please not start with the "ranting" thing. I believe that was not the intention of the author of this thread. He started this to thank the people who supported him and to state to those that didn't he also understood their position. He corrected a few misconceptions or statements by others and attempted to let those who might have negative thoughts about NTEC better understand the clubs true purpose. O.K.?

One of the terms of Al and my agreement is that there is a rewording of his claims or a disclaimer specifiying the stipulations to his claims. I think there will be improvement in the Dynoflash world and more understanding regarding claims, etc. which is all I really wanted anyways. I think I have fullfilled my goal. Thanks.

You had the cat delete and cat back - - then you added the down pipe and intake

I'll reword it more peacefully. I didn't feel the warm fuzzys one might expect when laying down his cash. Your hard earned income WAS my hard earned income. Don't forget that.
