Official AMS tune thread for 3/31/07
Ok, this thread is purely for information pertaining to the 3/31/07 and 4/1/07 AMS tune dates that tcarretti and I have set up. If you wish to discuss other topics or bicker then please use the pm system.
tcarretti has secured a local airstrip for Saturday, the 31st of March and Sunday, the 1st of April. Chris of AMS will do 6 custom tunes per day and however many base flashes needed. The pricing is $395 for a custom tune, $200 per hour for returning customers pending no drastic changes to their cars like a new stroker, major turbo upgrade, or the addition of meth injection. Base flashes will run $180. There will be a flat rate of $50 per car for rental of the airport runway. ONLY cars being tuned will be allowed on the property for the sake of safety.

I will be sending information directly to members that have signed up for the tuning day. This will include how the tuning sessions will work, how access to the airport will work, directions and maps, etc...
I'm really glad that this is going to happen and I want to make sure that we do it professionally so that this option will remain open to us in the future if needed.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation!

This is going to be awesome. Thanks to Tony and Josh for really getting down and setting this up for us. True EVO enthusiasts right there. I look forward to meeting you all, and thanks to Chris for his willingness to come back down to SA!

This is way cool!
I think all the members agree with me when we say that we want to send out a BIG thank you to tcarreti for securing this location!
I lets go ahead and make some sunday slots so people don't think the tune spot are completely full already.
Everyone who is listed up for Saturday needs to give us a call so we can take a deposit from you to solidify your appointment! You can either put down $100 for the deposit or you can pay the amount in full via credit card. If you wish to pay the remainder in person, you will need to bring CASH.

forget 3rd gear tuning.... try it in 5th!
however you said the runway is only 4000 some odd feet? thats a little shorter then the one i got to run on couple weeks ago. 1.5 miles long, so wide the white stripes down the middle were wider then my car. i started from a stop on one end, going slightly uphill without a hard launch i made about 160 mph before slowing down. i could have pushed it farther too but i wasn't willing to drive off the end of the runway on my first try. 4th gear pulls would be EASY on a runway with no traffic or anything else to worry about.

FYI,
This is an active general aviation airport. Albeit, traffic is not very heavy but depending on the weather (nice, sunny day with little wind...) it will be used.
We will have to give way to aircraft traffic which is not a big deal. I will have radio contact with all incoming/outgoing traffic so there will be NO chance of an incursion. I will also provide two way communication between the car being tuned and myself as an added safety measure.
Basically, after each pull, you will be able to exit to the taxiway and return to the start point to extrapolate data and make adjustments to the ECU. If traffic is really light, we might even be able to simply turn around at the end of the runway and do a pass in the opposite direction.
The airport owner is a client of mine and a good friend so I really want to make this as seamless for him as possible. As long as we handle this professionally, I don't see any problems at all.

We need to start getting the $100 deposits in to Chris so give him a call at AMS when you can or you can just pay in full. The $50 per car runway rental fee is due on the tune date in cash so be sure to keep it separate
