Sounds cool. We just bought a waterfront vacation home on Padre Island in Corpus and have been down there for the last few weekends, so theres a good chance we'll be there anyways. Saw a couple of other Evo's out and about. If any of you have seen a black Evo with black wheels, I apologize for it being so damn dirty :-)

I'll have to check back in more regularly to see how the details progress.

Any other info on Cabaniss Raceway? I googled it and see its an airport track, but would love to hear what its like from drivers.

I would definitely recommend a run to the beach. You can even drive on the beaches for some great photo ops. While you will get sand everywhere, the Evo is a lot of fun to troll through sand dunes on the beach. Even going slow, its fun to slalom it through some of the soft sand. And Padre Island National Seashore has some awesome beaches (white sand, blue water) and is only a few minutes off of SPID/Park 22 road.

I can recommend some great places for good food and a great view near the beach too.

Iam there forsure also!! Bob ill bring my video camera, If u want i can also make us a dvd of the 3 day meet.
See if u can get a list of people who can bring a video camera and donate the footage and ill chop us up a dvd. Also anyone who will record, its always best if there is no talking and no music playing in the car this way its all motor sounds and easy to tie in background music!!!

As far as the track event.... i want to track my car but i got these damn es100's with alot of tread left on them. I might say F it and turn this time attack into a drift event by running on my es100's. Ill let u know if i decide to run on these tires!

Pheonix evo, i think your es100 should be good enough for that track. The surface of the track are kinda slick anyway, lots of small loose pebble along the striaghts and some turns. It's a nice track to go to for beginner, as there are alot of runoffs. Super wide track that you can't find in any of the real race track in texas, that means very forgiving, even if you are driving too hot into some turns you're not going to end up in the dirt.

Are they going to run the larger 2.8miles track configuration or the smaller size 2 miles track configuration?

Hey Jason, are you going to take part in the time trial event? It's a good place to learn and push your car to the limit, very forgiving track. You'll never find anything that is close to the run group numbers they had, never more than 40 cars and lots of seat time to learn the track. Don't try to pass on this great opportunity to get to learn your car better. Not forgetting the amount you pay for the event, usually track fees cost approximately $150 per day, depending on club. So do the math.

 

Still working on the track length and overall format. I wanted to do the "Time Attack" thing just because of gravel on the course. It's not terrible, but I want a safe event for all skill levels. Also limiting the rock chips for us of the vain persuasion. The track is very wide and forgiving which makes for safety. It is long enough to get up to considerable speeds, so we're not talking about a KMart parking lot.

Some of you guys that know the Subbie crowd that joined us in Austin...give them a heads up about this thread.
