Shooting?

Any one on here like to go shooting? I just ordered my first rifle today. A Remington 700 SPS Tactical with a Leupold Mark 4 LR/T M3 scope.

Yep, I shoot an AR in Service Rifle and Tactical matches. A couple of us from the group went shooting a while ago, maybe we could do that again sometime.

Congratulations on your purchase, by the way. First rifle, huh? I learned to shoot on a Rem 700 PSS. If you have any questions or want to hit the range sometime send me a PM.

I go to the range every other weekend and then I have a match once per month. This is Texas, there are lots of good places to shoot. For range time I usually go to Garland Public Shooting Range. $10 one time fee and then $10 each day you shoot, no time limit. Jim and Kelly know where it is, they've shot there with me before. As to when we can discuss that using PMs.

I take it although this is your first rifle you've shot before? What kinds of shooting are you interested in? Hunting? Long range? Target? Just plinking? What kind of ammo were you thinking of using?

well i have been thinking about going military (seals or marines), swat, or working for black water usa. so this is for practice for later use after college. yes this is my first rifle, but i have been shooting before, mostly 3ot6 and .22. i want to get good at long range shooting. last time i went we were shotting odawalla bottles at 300 yards with no wind.

Just a side note

If you want to "practice" for the military, you really need to find a military trained shooting coach. Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect.

The military has very specific methods of instruction. Unless your Carlos Hathcock your first day on the range, you had better learn the right way from the get go, or you are in a world of hurt if you have "old habits" to break.

Shoot straight and keep it in the black.

How old do you have to be to own a rifle? I never became very clear on this subject for some reason ...
