"10/26 NTEC Picnic/BBQ -- BE THERE"
OK I went an scoped out the two parks today.
Here's some pics from my phone of the one in Lewisville. The parking "lot" that would be ours is gated off so we wouldn't have to worry about people taking it up. There are two big (40+ car) lots right next to the area, so overflow parking isn't an issue.
The pavilion isn't as big as Rock Ledge, so people should bring some camp chairs so we can spread out a bit. There are two port-a-cans and two camp bathrooms, but no running water. We'd need to bring a couple jugs of water to wash hands, etc. There is a LOT of room for kids to run around and play. Also, it it right on the water, so there's area to goof off near the water and you can fish (if you have a permit [needed only if > 16years old, so kids are fine]) if you wanted to right from the bank.
Pics:

Now Rock Ledge on the other hand, has a pretty nice big pavilion (seats 200!), has electricity and bathrooms with running water. HOWEVER, parking is super limited in the designated lot (18 spots). There is overflow up the hill. Also, there is very little room around the pavilion. I personally would be worried about my 2 year old falling down the ledge to the edge of the lake. Pictures would have trees, bathrooms and the pavilion in the background. There wouldn't be room to do anything but sit there under the pavilion unless we all hiked somewhere.
Here's the best pic of Rockledge:

My vote goes for Lake Park... unless someone can come up with a better place, that's it!

If anyone has one of these:

We'll be able to take some neat pictures. The bathrooms are right across from the parking lots, but they have solar panels on the roof, so standing up there might be a bad idea. Can definitely lean a ladder up there though!
