Ft Hood Evo Check-in
Good deal Too bad my EBO is not out here. Hope to meet you one day Wife and I went out to the hang out one friday and I got scared and nervous bout new people so we left but I will try and come out of my shell one day.
Hey All finally made it back here after a month away and have seen a few of you around saw one in COVE the other day. Been nice being back. Hey killer 99 are you the one that has the maroon 240 turbo'd round COVE? Heard you blast by my house this past weekend if its you. If not anyone know who owns a Maroon FMIC'd 240?

Right now I am looking for a 76-77 Celica liftback for my "project car". The 240 is on the back burner while my mom drives it. The RA will hit it's limits soon, looking to do most/all the power upgrades in one shot.
I just did an VIII today and was using that program..I'd take those numbers with a grain of salt..the TQ seems to read low, but the curves match the overall feel of the car.
^^Are you serious? That thing is s**tty! His spool up drops too soon and the torque is way off, that car can be making way more power considering you can adjust the MIVEC to get more power out of it. Maybe we are looking at it different but I see a car that has more in it than this.

I said take those numbers with a grain of salt...to actually take a Virtual program #'s to heart is retarded. Especially when if you add 50 lbs boom magically another 50 horsepower. Not knocking the program at all...it does serve a purpose.
That car is still on stock clutch, fmic/piping..not to mention when it got tuned still had a good amount of 93 in the thank which was accounted for in the timing maps. An aggressive timing map wasn't justifiable at all...not to mention the 90+ degree heat.
This car is out there running consistently in the the proper power range for what it has...sorry it's not a "400whp/400tq DLL/VDR/VD" whatever graph you're used to seeing from jokers...then the customer takes the car and 2 days later it takes a sh*t.
Ultimately the track and trap speeds tell the tale of the tape...I'm positive you have a "virtual dyno" graph there monkey..have you gone and posted up any track times? I see all the time ah man I made "400/400" on this virtual dyno..and they can't even go out and trap a 105.
So yes...we are looking at it differently.
Who to trust, person that tuned the fastest Evo in Texas and only 9 sec Evo in Texas.......on Haltech I might add OR a virtual dyno.
It's a tough choice.
It's not all about making the most power out of a vehicle. At the end of the day you want that vehicle to be reliable and run smoothly.
The track does not lie........

lol..ok master.

Having stock FMIC & piping doesnt mean s**t, here is a graph from someone using similar mods on 93.

Here is one with FMIC & O2 dump, I guess those 2 make 44hp gain

Now your going to try to tell me that on e85 hes running about the same HP and less torque? You as a tuner should know that this car IS NOT running at its full potential. If he had 93 left in his tank you should of made sure that it was either all gone or tank drained. This customer payed for a tune and this does not looked tuned at all.
If you feel that it is running to its limits on E85 then put it on a Dyno at your expense and prove it since this "virtual dyno" is no good.
I can care less that you have the 1st Evo in TX running 9's, maybe if you took as much care in your customers cars as you do on your own you wouldnt have to get defensive. Either way its your reputation on the line not mine, its nice to see the JMS crew chime in every time following any post you make.
If you feel that this virtual dyno is no good, please feel free to let Mellon and their crew know, or you can come up with one that works. You can let him know here:

Oh and by the way I dont have a "virtual dyno sheet" My tuners have their own dyno they dont have to "borrow" one. If you want you can call Cblack up an dask him what Im putting down, but I am interested on the 2 day working car you talk about, please do tell.

Those graphs don't mean much without more info. Gear, weight, street, temperature, etc. Not really interested in that since we're on the topic of Pat's Evo.
First, yes it was my bad for not realizing the tank was completely empty of 93 octane. I took care of Pat immediately when he let me know what was going on and it was full of pure E85. I had accounted for some 93 (underestimated how much) in the AFR ratio and timing maps before I left the car..had I tuned it on the ragged edge that day just to get a high number, his block would have a hole in it by now.
Leaving an Evo at its full potential takes a good balancing act. Anticipating how the car is going to be driven, frequently raced, different blends of gas/e85 pumps, etc. are all things I take into account. The car was tuned on a 95+ degree day..the stock FMIC heat soaks when doing multiple pulls, the stock clutch was already starting to slip a bit when I was taking it out.
I clearly let the owner know, there's more left on the table...once he knocks out the FMIC and clutch we can do it safely and in an according fashion. I prefer tuned cars to be consistent and reliable.
Same thing can be said about Jon's Evo, everybody that knows him sees he races it non-stop...at the shoot-out his FMIC was letting IAT's sky rocket to 150+ degrees! Guess what, he's still driving it everyday and gets to race it. The stock ECU doesn't have the same trims as the Haltech does, so I have to play it differently. If that means a bit less power than "expected" so be it, the car will continue to drive.
In my post I never knocked the new Virtual Dyno, I said it serves it's purpose. But better than a properly calibrated Mustang dyno or dynojet, I don't think so.
I personally have not a thing against you boss, I don't even know who you are, but I don't see how you go from this..
To attacking me and calling my tuning crap when I make a post

Just wondering but my timing is still based off my 93/e85 mix? U also never mentioned my clutch was slipping, it never has even on 29 psi in third gear. You did mention that u thought my pressure plate was causing the hanging rpm's after wot pulls but after me doing research it seems it's either an idle adjustment or decel fuel table issue.
Well now it just seems like your trying to justify everything and making up for a mistaken made on your part. The customer payed for a tune and thats not what he got, you made him think it was and left. Now that its out that you are the tuner your trying to fix it, if your going to quote someone quote the customer not me.

Here we are 9 days later and he is not happy with his tune, that is not customer satisfaction. Its his car so its up to him if he lets you fix it, me I wouldnt. Why? 10 days later as of tomorrow and he isnt happy and youve done nothing to fix it.
Yeah that graph is nice for a car with less mods than he has, thats more of a 93 tune with smaller cams and you know it.
Just in case you missed it the 1st time, only difference is GSC s1 and 93 fuel.

Once again you try to say it was him who didnt have the right fuel in it, you shouldnt blame the customers. Thats why they came to you, I would hate to bring my car in for an oil change and bring the wrong s**t. This lets me know that you would put the oil on regardless, cause I should of had the right stuff and ready for you to work your magic.
