What's Wrong With My IX MR's Tranny?
I bought my IX MR brand new just under 2 years ago, and it has been such a blast to drive every chance I get. The car is just so awesome and I am literally addicted to it. I try to take care of my Evo to the best of my abilities.............But for the last few months, I feel that somethings going wrong with my Evo. When I decide to go full throttle, every thing seems good, but when I get to shifting from 3rd gear to 4th......It feels like a "RIP". I mean it doesn't feel like the same fluid/smooth feel like shifting from the other gears. It only feels this violent/abnormal when I shift "quickly" from 3rd to 4th and only between those two gears and no other. In other words, it feels good and OK when I'm shifting normal and slowly between 3rd and 4th..... But it feels harsh when I'm accelerating aggressively and shifting quickly between those two gears. I took my Evo to my local Mitsubishi Service dealer and the service technician was very negative like he's always been. He still had his mechanics take a look at it. After the dealership was done testing my car, the service tech said that there is definitely something wrong with the transmission and it'll cost $800.00 to open it up and see what the problem is. It's not covered under warranty he said because I replaced the clutch with an ACT clutch and not a Mitsubishi clutch. Can anyone give me advice on what's going wrong with my IX MR's 6 speed transmission? Thank you for any help possible.
send it into TRE ( http://www.teamrip.com/TRE_6SPEED_EV...20SERVICE.html ) they do 6 speeds, and will rebuild it better and stronger for you.

My synchros seemed to act like that in the cold. while waiting for the car to warm up I shifted into the problem gear and it seemed to smooth things out after a while. Time to try new transmission fluid? It would also be a good chance to see if you have a lot of metal shavings in the fluid. (that would be a good indication something really needs to be looked at) If it is a problems with your synchros I would do some research to find out if a clutch could influence that kind of damage. If not then the mechanic is truely a dick. Any one else have experiance transmission problems? When I took mine to be looked at for the rough shifting the mechanic told me I needed a new clutch. I ignored that and drove it another 30k with out problems. So my trust in dealership mechanics is null.

Yeah, you're right......Dealer's are out there to rip people off. Why can't they be reasonable in their charges and options?? Mitsubishi service dealers are the worst for sure. I'll still keep your advice in mind. Thank you.

Thanks for all the positive feedback so far everyone. Alright...so does any one know who I can go to so that I may get the transmission fluid changed and to upgrade the motor mount? Can Kevin D. help me out on fixing this problem? If you can, please guide me in the safest and most affordable way... Thanks everyone...
you could get the super diaqueen from the dealership but its a bit expensive. i would personally try this on my next tranny oil change since the super diaqueen never removed the notchiness when shifting from 1st to 2nd.
