I mentioned our upcoming 2 day AutoX event above but it doesn't seem like there is any interest. Lets see if this will help jump start that. On October 20th there will be an EVO photoshoot taking place during and after the event for EVOs participating in the AutoX. There will be two professional photgraphers and a model on site. Photos will be submitted to speed shops and magazines. Anybody interested in trying out AutoX now?

 

Anybody been to the drag strip out in El Paso? If so, how are the conditions and what times were you getting? Thanks.

 

I have raced there quite a bit in my FWD Eclipse but I have never taken the Evo. My best time to far is a 13.1 @110 MPH on the stock 14b turbo.

It's called the El Paso Motorplex and it's actually in Clint, TX which is a little ways east of El Paso. It has always been known as a semi-crappy strip but they actively working on improving it. They have been spending a lot of money on it over the last year or so, new timing systems, paving around the track, new score boards, new entry sign, etc.

I plan on going there next friday with a couple of buddies. I ran 11.80's at 116-117 up in alaska, curious to see how the heat and elevation take effect down here.

 

I'm in El Paso, I drive a roto glow Ralliart.

 

The elevation sucks, it 3,600' or 3,700' above sea level at the track. The heat isn't bad since they are only open at night anyways.

There is actually a group from EPAWD going tomorrow, I just got the text about it.

 

Do they sale unleaded race gas there? Nice run btw...thats moving on a 14b

 

No, they don't. They have very limited facilities out there. There is a place on Montana and Desert Meadows that sells VP, Car Parts Machine downtown sells race gas by the gallon or by the drum. Plus there are a couple of gas stations that sell E-85.

Thanks so much! I'm actually in the process of shedding 300 lbs on my DSM and I will be switching to a full slick with the goal of running 11's on the 14b. Now that will be moving on a 14b!

 

The corvette run is ****... 11s would be pretty sick... My best was 12.01 full weight evo with 375hp.. I am really wanting to go see what ill run now... Unfortunitely i cant launch on the account of a stock tc.. But i still think sheila can pull 11s...

 

Lol, thanks! I'd like to get my DSM on a dyno. The highest recorded 14b on a dyno was 325 to the wheels. I bet I'm at least there. My goal now to to drop the weight and get some traction. I just weighed it the other day and it came in at 2,520 which is about 300 pounds less then stock. My goal is to get it down to 2,200 over the winter.

So is anyone interested in the Autox and Evo photoshoot on the 20th?

 

Im definitely interested. But my car isnt setup for autox... Turbo is way to big and i break all 4 loose thru 3 gear...

As for the dyno... Im in school at western tech and we have the all wheel dyno that we use for "school". Its currently down cause it is out of call but when its fixed ill let yall know. Its free for students to bring in cars to run...

 

Yeah I understand. If you want you can still come out for the photoshoot. The majority of it will actually be after the Autox. They want people there by 4ish to get set up and then will be taking the pictures afterwards.

Yes, please let me know, that would be awesome to get it on a dyno. My eclipse is just FWD though.

 

Ah... Yea i didnt pay attention to the gst... But you evo can run as well so yea. Maybe i can get the director to run a small hp competition and let a bunch of us run maybe fwd rwd and awd classes... For matco gift certificates.. Or something. His son and i are friends so i might be able to make this happen... Would be incredie...

 

I am Gray EVO 9 driver in Fort Bliss, too. I also stuck in here till 2014.
