It should free up some hp though I would think considering your mods.

haha nah I wont get sick of it lol Ill stay out of boost if I start getting annoyed.

vortico... you mentioned something that erks me... and maybe to you have a perspective on it that nobody has been able to bring to the table yet.

how does an open dump make any more power over a recirc? i've even hear claims of it increases spool... these bother me because the dump is the wastegate, it controls spool/boost spikes/creep. its closed during actual spool. and the flange is exactly the same between the 2 pipes so changes in flow aren't an issue... even if you toss in a ams widemouth or works exhale o2 you aren't going get any real benefit from a dump over these. now a low quality megan/titek o2 would show obvious improvements.

which also makes me ask the question to turbo. why the dump? I"m assuming you have the mani mounted wastegate yes? you already have every benefit that a dump can give you in your external wastegate. then only thing that will change by adding the dump is your exhaust note at wot.

I'm not by any means trying to hate on you guys or talk **** or anything. i'm honestly trying to wrap my head around this.

as a test lemme get my hands on a back pressure tester and hook it into your front 2 sensor. take a reading. when your new pipes come in redo it and see if there is any drop.

The main benefit of the dump is preventing creep because of the better flow of the wastegate (obviously). As you mentioned though with an external wategate this should already be taken care of. I know my 14b on my 1g DSM was creeping like crazy initially (with a full 3" exhaust) until I added a tubular recirulated o2 housing. Later I switched to an Tial MVS external wastegate on the o2 housing along with porting the turbine housing and it cured it completely.

If you already have a tubular o2 housing and an external wastegate the only bennifit you will see by going to an external dump, besides the obvious scream once full boost is
reached, would be at WOT if the turbo is putting out enough flow that removing the wastegate exhausts frees up more flow for the turbine exhaust. On a stock turbo it won't but with a Hta 3586 with over 700 ponies on E85, I can see it helping at WOT.

Ive talked to English Racing about this a couple times. On my current setup with the Hks 3inch exhaust, it is actually not big enough and is restricting the exhaust flow (with the recirc). Aaron I believe said with a dump it will allow better exhaust flow and therefor the turbo will actually operate more effeciently and should make the same power with less boost.

I can see the benfit of a dump performance wise. I just would be concerned with exhaust gases that are basically on fire right under my engine/cabin. I've seen what it looks like on other setups, for instance
which is a through the vent setup and that just seems scary to have under my car heh. Perhaps though with the angle/airflow there its a non issue.

On a completely different note the next PanAm SCCA AutoX is this weekend, both saturday and sunday. Looks like I'll be there Sat but I need to head into work on Sunday.

congrats... i'm joe... txt me sometime 915-929-8963... i'm the best mechanic this side of the international dateline.... lol...

as for the 93oct... the elevation keeps the air thin enough our 91 reacts like 93 at sealevel... not to mention the refinery is in town so we don't gt diluted **** water that other cities get..

i got into a argument with a well known tuner the other day about timing on an evo and won after he realized how well the fuel holds up to resist detonation for being 91...
