Having any kind of Meet in November is always hard to pull off just because it falls so close to the holiday season. I've been wanting to check out Myrtle Beach since some DSM Meets have been held there in the past and want to know what all the commotion is all about. Haha.

Just so you know as well, the Southeast Regional DSM/EVO Meet I hold every two years in Jacksonville, FL will be February 13th and 14th of 2010.

 

Thank you for the information, i can always pull the date to OCTOBER of 2009. since nothing is going on in october. I really didnt think about that. More than likely people will come more in october than november because of thanks giving and then xmas in dec.

Just so you know, things may not “seem” to be going on in October, but if you are looking at a major hub of the DSM/EVO community to come from Florida, there are many things to consider, even in the month of October. The average DSM/EVO enthusiast will surely have other interests whether it be the weekly/monthly DSM/EVO Meets, school, or just be active in sports. If none of them, at least have friends who influence them.

You basically have four weekends in October. Well, the first weekend is normally mid-terms week for a lot of students. The Fall fair is normally the third or last weekend of the month here in Jacksonville. The largest tailgate/cocktail party of the year is also on the last weekend in October, aka Florida vs. Georgia weekend. EVERY weekend seems like someone has Halloween parties going on, much less friends going on roadtrips to Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando or Guavaween in Tampa. Biketoberfest is another fun and busy weekend in Daytona Beach. The Blue Angels Air Show is normally in the latter months or first week in November for their grand finale of their Tour every year, and Florida has mad support for it's Navy bretheren. Did I mention Halloween? I can go on and on in the state of Florida alone. Not sure what really goes on in the other southeastern states, but that’s a lot to consider in just the state of Florida alone.

Autocrossing, live music, car shows, food and more are always good times, so just trying to help you gauge the right time of the year to have a good turnout without anyone having any kind of excuses.

Since you moved the date all the way back to September, why not do it on Labor Day weekend of September 5th and 6th. And if this is only a one-day event, I don't think you'll have as many people interested coming from long distances, as if it were at least a two-day event. Labor Day weekend, is one of those weekends that many like to just enjoy and don't have many traditional gatherings like it would be for New Year's Eve, or Thanksgiving.

I have my Meets on 3-day weekends and have proven to be highly successful in the past. It gives out-of-towners a good extra "third-day" to buffer their normally busy weekend, and gives them a chance to do chores like laundry, projects, etc. If you chose Labor Day weekend, I'm a shoe-in and can commit and also can bring 4G63 enthusiasts as well as the 4B11 genre to the Meet. If you stick to the one-day event, I will have to consider the worth of driving that far for just a one-day Meet. Good luck!
