I think I'd be worried about blowing through transmissions and axles more than clutches.

ya. well im lookin for a good deal on a tranny. depending on how much time i have on my hands, i might send it off to be heat treated or something along those lines, maybe that will help.. axles are pretty cheap. i just need to be able to change them out quicker. lol

Hrmm.. for some reason locker in a fwd drag car doesnt sound right. donno why. dont think ive even heard of any (excuse my french) 'honda' guys using lockers in there drag cars..
think my only real option is a kaaz or quaife lsd, i havent had any 1 wheel madness issues with the open diff on the lancer. i always do 2 wheel burnouts and leave even tracks

spool/locker same thing. several honda guys run spools. running an open diff is probably going to give you broken parts sooner than later; that may have also been what happened with your automatic. There's a *lot* more shock on the drivetrain that comes with running a manual transmission at the track, esp if you're going to be side stepping the clutch at 7k.

Kenny, if he goes 5-speed we can most likely tune the fuel delivery in the maps like you said. The issues is that we're having fuel delivery issues with the ROM for the auto tranny. We can't get more than about 54% IDC no matter what is in the maps. With a 5-speed we would just run the Evo ROM and that issue would go away, so the dry shot would be an option.

An option on the auto would be to put an even larger jet in for fuel and lean it out in the maps, which we can do. But fuel delivery would be inconsistent.

ah yea, I forgot about the whole TCU side of things possibly interfering with life.

realistically though, to get the car to perform on a constant basis like that, you're constantly tweaking the tune to better fit track conditions, etc. (things like changing the static limiter, afr's, etc).

That said, there is a guy flying in from houston to drive away the X tomorrow. New car coming this weekend, we will have to run Daniel when I pick it up... One condition, I have groceries in the back, and a bag of soccer *****.

been talkin to a few people. lookin like im gunna do a 5spd with a stage 2 rebuild from tre, quaife lsd and act/clutchmasters stage 4 clutch, i think the 6puck is the unsprung more 'race' clutch, but im not sure. streetable isnt really on the table.. and its the highest rated ones i can find..
the SPEC stage 5 is only rated to 320; which was a big bummer when my buddy relayed that message to me. all together its gunna cost me a pretty penny, but should hopefully handle the track a little better. Im gunna attempt to have this all wraped up and running good before the import showdown on july 30th, if that goes well ill be headed to the buscher/dsm shootout after that.

Got a few other things i plan on doing while the motor/trans is out. hopefully suspension work will be on the list also. depends on how fast i can pump out some cash. lol

12f 18k rear???? Ok, somebody please explain to me...why do u want to go stiffer spring rate instead of softer for drag racing??? and for those spring rates you might as well just weld in steele rods instead of using shocks and springs, What kind of valving are you going to be using for those rates?? please enlighten me on this.
