^^ what's the new rubber you got there? Doesn't look like the reg khumo. And John's car is still in there?! Any clue what the problem is at this point?

 

Those rubbers are Hankooks RS3,s im not running the XS this year.
John's car is on its way up, we took aprt the engine to find out that the crank was damaged and decided that we are going to up it from 2.5-2.7L. all we are waitting on now is a cam...yeah...Euro cars... C

 

At least he will have the car running again! I'm not sure about tires. Mine have tons of tread, but maybe looking at some michelin for next year.

About $250 ea though :/ few hundred more dollars for a set than the ventus

those seem to be pretty good tires. Not sure though. May discuss it with the mad tire scientist Mike. I'm not going to lie i'm just ready to get the suspension on lol Did you just go to a local tire shop for corner balance?

 

I have the pilot super sports, and they are awesome. I bought a set of hankook ventus evo v12's from discount tire direct, but i had a terrible radial pull. Replaced the offending tire with another v12, and the pull was even worse. Decided to bite the bullet and spend the extra cash on a set of pilot super sports, and I love them. No more pull, and I don't feel like my car is sliding all over the road anymore like I did with the hankooks.

Just my 2 cents

BTW, Discount Tire Direct handled everything great. Never charged me shipping in either direction, and refunded me every penny from my first set of hankook's, and the single replacement tire. They even reimbursed me for the mounting and balancing charges.

 

Ever had the dunlop star specs?? Wondering on a comparison. Mine overheat quickly when it's hot out. gotta soak them down.

 

No, I've never had them. The tires that came on the evo when I bought it was the bridgestone REO1R's, which of course were excellent. Unfortunately, I got a nail in one of the sidewalls, and they don't make those tires anymore.

I haven't taken my evo to the track or anything, but as far as everyday spirited driving, the pilot super sports seem just as good as the RE01R's, just noticeably quieter.

The only good things I can say about the hankook's were that they were amazingly quiet, and they were much cheaper than the michelins. I felt like i had no control over my car when the hankooks were on. I easily broke my tires lose around turns. I just don't get whey there are rated so highly on tire rack.

I'm dying to get my calipers back from Carlos at Tirado. I can't wait to see how the OEM new treatment turned out

 

Not yet. Hoping he will contact me in a week about them. If not i'm going to e-mail him and see when they should be coming. I have become more patient in my old age waiting on parts lol. Want to get them on and ready to go before test and tune really have them dialed in so i can get it JUST right on that weekend in bham.
I'm getting rid of the crappy hps pads lol but i don't want my car to sound like a train stopping (cough C cough) so I'm going with EBC reds. Mike had a pretty good write up about them on here.
